I hold my breath to stop me breathing in the powder and close my eyes, I must pretend to sleep to protect May. Two large rough hands clumsily pick me up and throw me over the shoulder of a large male. I’m carried from the room and down the halls back to the slaughter within the castle walls. The courtyard that was once filled with noise is now deathly silent and painted with blood that almost glowed in the moonlight. I look out the corner of my to see a tall thin female in a golden sparkling dress carrying May in her arms. I’m thrown onto a large cart drawn by two horses, one was as black as the night with no stars and the other as white as the freshly fallen snow on a winters morning. The cart itself was entangled with vines, the leaves danced in the wind. The wind freezes to the bone as it blows over my bare skin, making me shiver. The cart rocks slightly as our captures take a seat behind the horses. A flick of the reins and the horses take off making the carriage bump slightly as it tumbles over rocks and tree roots. I slowly reach down, trying to move as discretely as possible, as I pull the double bladed dagger from my boot. I pull my hands underneath me and push myself towards the large male, placing the dagger to his throat.
“Let us go!” I pull the dagger further into his neck as he yanks on the reins forcing the horses to stop.
“Agatha you told me they wouldn’t be a problem!” The male glares at her as he folds his arms.
“Victor you temper is a curse, if you dont like it then leave, their not our problem anymore anyways.” She turns to him her gaze sharp.
“Fine!” I fall back as he disappears leaving behind a faint black cloud of smoke. Shortly followed by a second cloud of white left behind by Agatha. I quickly blink a few times before getting my priorities straight. I try to wake May but when I come to the realisation that its useless, I pick her up and carry her into the woods. I’m not quite sure where I’m taking her but all I know is its my responsibility to protect her. The exhaustion hits me and I have to stop. I place her carefully against a tree and sit beside her. I try to fight the sleepiness that washes over me but it’s no use. I give in to the tiredness as my eyes slide shut.
