"Jas, will you marry me?"

I stare at Max, while fireworks go off all around us. Drivers and their girlfriends are looking at us, eyes wide. And Max is looking nervously at me, waiting for my answer.

The ring is beautiful, a silver ring with a diamont in the middle. I am staring at it, completely forgetting to give an answer.

"Max-" I start, but don't get any further, before he says something else.

"We don't have to get married straight away. The whole Evan thing just made me realize that life can be very short, especially with what we do. My whole life I've spent in a car, some go faster than others, but it was always fast. I know this is fast as well, but for me, it's perfect" Max says, looking with hopefull eyes at me.

He might be right. Life can be very, very short. We thought Evan would die soon. Max can get in a crash in Australia, ending his life soon as well, it's a chance. So, I take a deep breath, ready to get my life changed even more.

"Yes, I'll marry you" I answer Max, making sure he gets an enormous smile on his face. He takes the ring from the box and slides it on my finger. He puts his arms around my waist, picking me up and spinning me around. I giggle, holding him tight.

Everyone around us cheers, being happy for us. Max kisses me softly, a smile clear on his lips through the kiss.

"Happy new year, baby" Max says to me.

"Happy new year, sweet" I reply to Max, smiling up at him.

I wake up, feeling slightly disorientated. I look around, having no idea where I am. I bring my hand up to my cheek, feeling my make-up still on it.

My eyes land on my hand, or better yet, my ring finger. The events of last night are coming back to me as I'm looking at my engagement ring.

I look over to Max, who is laying on his side, his face to me. A small smile is placed on his lips. His big, full lips that I love to kiss.

Laying here, I don't understand why I didn't say yes straight away. I was worried about what people would think off it, but I guess it doesn't matter, as long as Max and I are happy.

I place a kiss on Max's cheek, smiling to myself as I see his smile widening as well. His eyes slowly open, as they now stare into mine.

"Good morning, baby" Max says to me, making the butterflies move through my stomach again.

"Good morning, sweet" I reply. Max kisses my cheek and pulls me closer to him.

"Should we facetime our families?" Max asks, pressing his lips against my temple.

"Yeah, sure!" I reply, excited to tell our families. It also makes me nervous, not knowing how they'll react.

Max leans over me and grabs his phone. His family first then. He calls his mum first, hoping Victoria will be with her.

She answers, smiling widely at us.

"Happy new year!" She yells, making us both laugh.

"Happy new year, mum" Max says.
"Happy new year, Sophie" I say right after him. She is smiling brightly at us.
