Grand Prix Of Life - Max Verstappen

Chapter 7

When I open my eyes, they immediately land on Max's face, that is staring at me. He starts smiling when he sees that I'm awake.

"Good morning, baby" he says to me, leaning in to softly kiss my lips.

"Good morning, sweet. What time is it?" I ask Max. We have to be at the Factory at 11, which isn't that early.

"9 A.M. How did you sleep?" Max asks me, pulling me closer to him by my waist. Last night, like I expected, we got home from the Factory and fell asleep when we went to bed.

"Really well. I still feel a bit tired, but much better than yesterday. You?" Max just smiles and nods his head.

"Don't feel like doing the sim today" Max mumbles, souding annoyed for some reason.

"But you have too. I'll be there, so don't worry" I tell Max. My phone starts ringing and I see Victoria's name on my screen.

"Good morning, Vic" I say, making Max look at me. He starts smiling at the mention of his sisters name.

"Hi, Jas! I was wondering if I could stay at your place for a few days" she says, almost mumbling. She sounds sad and I don't know why.

"Sure. What's wrong?" I ask her, frowning at Max.

"Roy and I broke up" she just says. I sigh softly, not expecting that one.

"Off course you can stay with us. Where are you now?" I ask her.

"Outside Roy's apartment. I don't know what happened, Jas" I can hear her starting to cry. I sit up and get out of bed.

"I'll come and get you soon. Let me put on some clothes and I'll be there, okay?" I ask her, grabbing random jeans and a shirt.

"Thank you, Jas. I'll see you soon" she says and we hang up.

"Roy and Vic broke up, she asked if she could stay with us" I tell Max quickly, putting on my clothes.

"You go shower and get ready, I'm going to get her. Be right back" I say and kiss him quickly.

45 minutes later, I walk back into the apartment with Victoria by my side. Driving in the UK isn't my favorite thing and today, I was reminded of that once again.

Max walks out of the bathroom, fully dressed. He immediately hugs Victoria close to his chest, letting her softly cry.

"Jas, we have to leave in half an hour" Max says to me. I nod while looking at Victoria. I just quickly grab some work clothes and change. I just walk back into the livingroom, putting my hair up while walking.

"Do you wanna tell us what happened?" Max asks Victoria as I sit down next to her. Victoria sighs but nods.

"So after New Year's, we went back to here. I stayed with him ever since. His parents came over, telling that they thought it was ridiculous that he was still with me. They totally pretended to like me when I first met them. Roy listened to his parents and broke up with me" Victoria explains. I frown slightly, while Max copies my expression.

"I am going to kill Roy!" Max says, standing up. I pull him back down and raise an eyebrow at him.

"Calm down there, kill Bill" I say to him, causing Victoria to giggle slightly.

"Jas is right, Max. He's on your team and we shouldn't have put you in this position in the first place. Please don't do anything" Victoria tells him. Max nods slowly, sighing.

"Do you wanna come to the Factory or do you want to stay here?" I ask Victoria. She frowns slightly.

"Roy is going to be there, right?" Victoria asks. I nod slowly, expecting here not to come with.

"You know what, I'll just come. I have you two with me, it will be alright" she says, surprising both Max and me.

The day at the Factory was going fine. Max and I took Victoria into the simulator, where she could watch Max doing what he does best.

After the session, we heard there was an emergency meeting called by Christian. We walked into the big hall, where Christian was standing with a microphone. A lot of team members are here.

"Alright, thank you all for coming. We have had a meeting about how the team functions and about the functions itself. We decided to change some things, so I'll be telling everyone their new function and such, starting with the side of Daniel Ricciardo's garage" I zoom out, waiting till I'll be told what is changing. I feel scared, what if I'm losing my job because of this.

"And now for Max Verstappen's side. Jasmin Hall, you're function is now called Race Engineer. You will do the exact same things as you did before, only it's called different. Marcel Cavanaugh, you'll be Head of Pitstops. You're job is to lead the pitstops, making sure everyone is out there on time with the right tyres. Roy Harp, you'll be just a mechanic now, nothing special" I look around and frown as people look confused. Christian just continues talking about the different functions.

"I don't get this" I just mumble to Max. He shrugs himself, not knowing what this is about either.

"Jasmin and Marcel are now connected during race weekends. You two report to each other about possible pitstops and such" Christian explains and I just nod. This is weird and confusing.

"Well, that was it. Thank you everyone" Christian says, dismissing everyone. People walk around confused and talking to each other. Marcel walls straight towards me, smiling widely.

"Hello there, partner" he says, greeting Max as well. He gives Victoria a hug, while I see Roy a bit further away, looking at her.

"Do you understand this?" Marcel asks me. I shake my head. He and Max start talking about some things, and I zoom out once again.

"I'm exhausted" Max announces as he lets himself fall onto the couch that night. Victoria just laughs at him, while she helps me with making dinner.

"Me too. Can't wait till the first day off" I just reply, looking forward to that day.

"Me neither. But, I'm also looking forward to the end of February" Max says, smiling widely. Testing will be then, which means it'll be the first time he gets to go into the new car.

"Me neither. Lovely Barcelona" I say, making Victoria smile. She'll be travelling with us, so Barcelona is her first stop as well.

"The season will be amazing" Max just says, smiling at the two of us. And I agree, because it will be my first full season with Red Bull and my first full season with Max.

So, this chapter, mostly the second half, is used as a change. In Grand Prix of Love, I used made up names, because I didn't really know much of the functions inside the team. I wanted to make it more accurate, so I changed some things.
