The First Step

CHAPTER 2

The sound of the bicycles cycling down the hill is been heard.

"Screech------!!!!!!" the screeching sound coming from the bicycles is too sharp that it hurts my ear...

"Alright!! We finally reach!!" shouts Yuu-chan when we reach Miyahara High school.

"Ok, we made it in time!!" said Mizuki.

"Hurry, let's go!! Everyone has to gather at room 2 for preparation!" said Mikami, pushing me into the entrance...

Mizuki and Yuu-chan are standing by the entrance watching us.....

"Shizune.... She finally takes the first step...." said Mizuki.

"Yeah... it has been years since her last competition...." said Yuu-chan.

"You think this is the right choice?? She may meet the same obstacle again, don't you think so??" said Mizuki.

"Well... I can't confidently say that this is the right choice, but I can be confident that whichever choice she choose, I'll always be there to help her...." said Yuu-chan.

Suddenly, the strong wind blows, their hair flew to the side.

"What a protective friend, aren't you..." said Mizuki with a grin in her face.

"I should say the same to you..." said Yuu-chan.

Then, they walk into the entrance.

"Ah! Mikami-kun! Hurry up!" shouts a guy from our school.

We quickly enter room 2. Mikami gives me the uniform.

"Wear it!!" said Mikami.

After changing, I realize that the bow and arrows are not with me. Suddenly, Mikami pats my head. I got shocked and turn over to look at him.

"Don't worry, Sugiyama-senpai brought your archery tools..." said Mikami then hands over my archery tools.

Argh... I should practice way before the competition day. Damn it's been so long since I've shoot, there's no way I can perform a perfect shot. Damn I'm so nervous...

"Senpai, relax! You don't have to be so nervous! Take it slow..." said Mikami.

I ignore him, because I am so damn nervous. The butterflies in my stomach won't fly away...

Suddenly, he grabs my hand, and "Bang-------!!!!!!!" The bang was too loud, everyone look towards us.

"Ow.... Ouch....What the hell are you doing??" I said angrily as my head seriously hurts.

Mikami lands his forehead on mine.

"Look up... look at me.... You're always looking down... that's why you can never escape from the results...I know, I know you can do it... Try to release everything, sadness, happiness, pain through your arrow.... I know you and I can do it" said Mikami

Mikami then stands up straight. He looks at me smiling...

"A famous archer once says 'Let your arrow fly on a long journey.....' That's why let's release our arrow and let it fly to a long journey" said Mikami smiling.

"Next up is Shiyamasa High school..." said the committee member.

"Let's go!" said Mikami.

He then grabs my hand and start running to the shooting area.

"Listen closely Shizune, your arrows will determine your results and marks." said a guy that I recall in my mind.

"How can you be so confident...?" I ask.
