The sun is finally out and bright, and is humid against my glossy skin. As I continue to roam further into the town's core, heat and warmth radiate throughout my body threatening to devour me whole.
I pass market's and shop's, and enter everyone of them. Not for any particular purpose, but just to keep my mind busy. To stay distracted, so my thoughts don't wander off to dangerous territory.
I'm just about to enter a small book store, when a familiar voice sparks my attention. Turning around, I peer in the direction of the compelling voice.
A pair of vibrant blue eyes match mine almost automatically. Kaiden. "Aria," A crooked smile curves onto his full lips, as he strides to where I stand in suprise. "Didn't think I'd be graced with your presence again so soon."
Heat pricks across my face as I release a light giggle. "Well you know, I was feeling quite generous today and thought I would."
He chuckles briefly, before saying, "Guess today's my lucky day then, huh?" The grin carved on his face reaches his ocean blue eyes, and in them, swirl a flowing aboundance of felicity. I find myself swimming within them and can't seem to look away. But his next words snap me from my daze. "So, how are you?"
"Good, good." The both of us move over to let a couple through to the store entrance. "That is if you weren't planning on hitting me in the head with a football again."
He laughs again, but softer this time. "No, not today, unfortunately. Although it would be pretty funny."
I roll my eyes playfully, a devious smirk still widely visible on my lips.
"So, where are you headed?"
I shrug my shoulders, allowing my gaze to shift from the book store to the other shops across the street. "Nowhere in particular. Just looking around. Trying to get familiar with the town, you know?" my eyes flicker back to his. "What about you?"
He stuffs his hands into his pockets casually. "I'm heading to work, actually."
"Really, where do you work?"
"The beach. I'm a lifeguard." I finally take in what he's wearing, and internally curse myself for asking such a stupid question. The white shirt with lifeguard in bold letters should have been the hint.
"Cool."
"Yeah," an awkward silence pervades the conversation for a couple of seconds until he clears his throat, then swiftly asks, "Are you busy tomorrow?"
I shake my head no, automatically.
"Good." A new kind of smile, plays its way onto his face, lacing his features with bliss and boyish charm. "What do you say I take you on an exclusive tour of the town, since you're trying to get a feel for it and all." He adds.
"An exclusive tour? That sounds fancy."
The dimple in his left cheek deepens as he chuckles to himself. "Fancy, no. More like a drive-you-around-town-in-my-car-until-you-get-sick-of-sight-seeing kind of thing.
I laugh, pushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. "Right. Well, whatever it is, yes. I would love to go."
"Great. I'll pick you up tomorrow at noon then."
Nodding, I say, "Sure. Noon it is." Then quickly add, "I'm the house right in front of the beach. You've probably passed by it a thousand times."
He shakes his head softly. "That, indeed is true. And I never once thought it belonged to you."
