One o'clock came quickly, Peter stood up from his desk, and walked over to the check-in board. He checked himself out, and wrote "lunch break" next to it. He walked out of the building and headed for his car, he got into his car and turned on the ignition. Then thoughtfully he pulled out and started for Lora's school. Peter thought about what Lora could have done to go to the principles office.
Cole and Peter arrived at the school around the same time, at 1:15. Cole and Peter walked in to the school, Cole glanced around for the front desk and didn't hesitate to walk right up and ask to see the principle. Peter was right behind Cole, as the girl at the front desk asked, almost robotically, if he had an appointment. Cole looked right into the girls eyes, "yes, I do in fact have an appointment," Cole said clearly "I am Cole Matthews, and he is Peter Matthews." Cole pointed at Peter, "nice to meet you," Peter said sweetly.
The desk girl didn't look up as she called for the principle. The principle walked in quickly, she smiled excitedly when she saw Cole and Peter. She ran up and gave them both a big hug, and even Peter a little kiss on the cheek. She examined them both, "how are my two favorite boys?" she asked happily, "your both so grown up!" Cole and Peter smiled, "well we'd would love to catch up but, we were called about Lora," Cole said plainly.
The principle glanced behind her, "oh, right, of course just this way," she said motioning them to her office. Cole and Peter walked in and saw, Lora sitting there with her arms crossed, and her bleached white hair, covering her face. Cole and Peter sat down in the seats to the left and right of her. The principle sat down in her chair in-front of all three of them. The principle looked right at Cole and Peter, "as you know I've called you in here because of Lora's recent behavior," she started, "today she got into a very physical fight."
Peter covered his mouth, Cole looked down, "what!?" Peter exclaimed, "let me see your face, right now!" Peter reached down and lifted Lora's chin so he could see. Lora had a bloody nose, and buffed up lips, along with a black eye on her right. Peter sat there in shock, the principle continued, "I'm sorry Peter, Cole, but she has to be suspended, it's the rules." She kept talking "any fights on school grounds now, lead to suspension for anyone involved."
Cole nodded, as he took another deep breath, "we understand," Cole said as he started to stand. Peter looked up at Cole, "well Peter we need to go to work, and take her home," Cole explained, "come on." Peter stood up, and helped Lora up as well, all three walked out of the office. They got to the two cars, Lora went with Peter and Cole went by himself. They drove up to the house, when they got there Cole and Peter parked outside.
All three of them walked into the house, Lora tried to go up the stairs immediately but Cole stopped her. They all sat down at the table, "so," Cole started, "what the hell, happened?" Lora looked down, "I-I guess I just got mad," she answered. Cole eyed her, "no, thats not an answer," he said bluntly "what happened, I want the whole story." Lora look up at Cole, "Emma got hit," she said, "I and Brady cornered the girls who hit her, but they were stronger than us and we got beat up real bad." Peter and Cole traded glances, Cole stood up again, "so you started the fight?" he asked without looking at her.
Lora looked up at Cole "what?" she asked confused "no, they started it by ever touching Emma!" Cole looked at Lora, "Im going to tell you something that an old friend of mine told me, when I was in your situation," Cole started, "you should fight with your heart not your fist," he said as he pointed first at her heart then her hands." Peter glanced at the clock, "its almost 2:00 Cole," he said, "we need to get going." Cole looked at Peter, and smiled, "your my little alarm clock you know," he said. Peter smiled, "Lora were heading out, there should be some left overs in the fridge if you get hungry," he said naturally.
Lora looked at Peter surprised, "you mean your not mad at me?" she asked. Peter smiled, "oh no," he said, "we've been through so much worse." Cole and Peter, left the house and headed out for work again. Lora sat there dumb founded, she thought she was going to be in a lot of trouble, at least she thought she would get a stern talking to. Lora shrugged, she took out her phone and texted Emma and Brady to meet at her house ASAP.
Brady and Emma, arrived at Lora's house. She welcomed them in, and sat them down at the table. She smiled, "looks like our plan to get suspended work!" she said, "how much trouble did you guys get into...?" Emma looked down, "I got grounded from my computer," she answered quietly, "but its ok because it was worth it," she added quickly. Brady answered, "I got off pretty easy my parents just expect me to get it together."
Lora smiled at them both "my dads both were completely fine with it," she said happily, "I played the (I got angry) card with Cole, and he totally bought it." Lora glanced a the clock, "we have a couple hours before my parents get back, lets get to work," she said getting serious. They all nodded agreeing, "ok now how are we gonna really jump those girls," Lora started, "any suggestions?" Emma looked up, "well, we could do what they do to us..." she suggested hesitantly. Lora looked at her and smiled, "thats a great idea!" she said "we could corner one by themselves, and just, you know, play around." They all giggled, "ok lets seek one out, outside of school grounds," Brady suggested. Lora smiled, "that sounds perfect!"
