Lora came back down stairs all dressed and ready for school. She was wearing a black and blue long-sleeved shirt, with a short black jacket over it, and with long dark blue jeans that went under her heals. She had grabbed her plain red back-pack and headed out the door to catch the bus for school. She waited in the cool breeze of fall, Cole always seemed to like fall the best, she thought to herself, as she waited. Finally the bus came up and stopped right in front of her with a squeak.

Lora was a 16 year old ninth grader, when she was in the first grade she was held back because of a bad teacher that didn't seem to care if she failed or passed. Lora never did like the fact that she was older than everybody else in her grade, it made her feel like an old lady, around a bunch of small children. She was an outcast and had only two people (aside from Cole and Peter) that she really trusted. Their names were Laurence, and Emma. Laurence was her boyfriend, and Emma was her lesbian friend who didn't trust men a whole lot, because when she was young her father would abuse and sexually harass her.

Lora and Emma shared the fact that they were both fostered and then adopted. Lora was four when she had been adopted by Peter and Cole. She didn't remember much, but Peter and Cole always said she was abused by her mother, and that her father had left her. She didn't care about her biological mother and father because she always loved Peter and Cole. Lora always thought that her mother and father had one shot at her and failed, so why should she bother with them.

Even though Emma at first didn't really like Laurence she became closer to him as time moved on. Lora loved her boyfriend and she had no doubt about that. Laurence was another outcast, he didn't really fit in with anybody. Lora liked him that way, she felt she had no competition and trusted him completely. Lora is still a virgin but she has a feeling that won't be for very much longer.

Lora is an easy target for bullies, because she is an outcast and doesn't have very many friends, she can be cornered easily. Bullies often pick on her because her parents are of the same sex. Lora does get a lot from Cole, of her attitude and her anger, of people making fun of her loved ones. Although she isn't a fighter in which she gets from Peter as she is not strong in the least.

Lora entered the bus, and walked through the alleyway until she found Emma. She sat down next to her, "hey.." Emma said looking down. Lora glanced at her and sat down, "are you ok?" she asked, "you seem down." Emma didn't look up, "its noting," she said hesitantly "I'm fine."

Lora looked at her with doubtful eyes "no your not fine," she said plainly "whats wrong?" Emma hesitantly looked up at Lora. At that moment Lora knew what had happened. Emma's face had a huge dark black circle, right around her left eye. Lora stared in awe, "w-what happened," she asked.

Emma looked back down, "nothing happened," she answered, "I'm fine, really." Lora looked down, she wasn't going to push something that wasn't going to happen. The bus stopped finally in-front of the school. The sea of students rushed out of the bus, to head to their lockers and before class activities. Lora hopped off the bus and headed over to the giant statue of a bear.

Lora remembered when Cole and Peter told her the story of when they changed the growling dog into spirit bear. Lora didn't believe there was really a spirit bear, she thought Cole and Peter were always pulling her leg. Plus she definitely knew that an old bum in a little white blanket could never carve such a realistic bear. Although Lora never dare tell Cole and Peter what she thought, "they would hate me if I ever said it was just bullshit like it is," she had always told herself. She walked up to the bear to meet Laurence.

He noticed her walking up "hey," he said with a smile "whats up." Lora weakly smiled back, "well I'm not really sure," she said with a little doubt in her voice, "Emma has a black eye, and she won't tell me what happened." Lora looked at the ground, "ugh, I wish I could kill ever single bully that ever touched us!" she said clenching her fist. Laurence walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders, "I know" he said quietly, as he leaned in to kiss her. Lora hugged him with no intent of letting go.

Emma walked up, still facing the ground trying to hide her face. Lora walked up to Emma, and looked her in the eyes, "what. happened. to. you." Lora said determined to make Emma talk. Emma looked back up and answered "I got into some trouble ok," she started, "some girls were playing around and one hit me," she looked back down. Lora stared at her, "who were the girls?" she asked. Emma didn't answer, "who were the girls?" Lora repeated.

Emma looked up at Lora, "they were the same girls who always bully us," Emma answered, "whats the difference now?" she asked. Lora glanced behind her at Laurence, and then back at Emma, "the difference," Lora started, "is that, that was the last straw." The bell rang motioning for students to enter the building now. Lora looked at Emma and Brady, "meet me at the bear after school," she said "we will talk more about this then."
