A Potter and a Malfoy

The Feast

Hogwarts looked just as magical as it did the first time all of the students gazed upon it. The lights gleamed off of the lake, where Hagrid was stationed. Even though he was now a professor, it was still a ritual that he loved to do.

" Firs' Years 'is way,"  Hagrid bellowed in a friendly voice.

Mady, Harry, and the rest of their group gave Hagrid warm smiles as they climbed into their carriage.

From her spot facing the castle, Mady could see Draco and was blushing slightly, thankful that nobody noticed thanks to the candle light.

Making their way to the castle, the journey was filled with nature and chatter. The trees swayed in the summer breeze and the smell of  oak and pine filled the noses of the returning students.

"So, what classes are you all most excited for?" Hermione asked, trying to make light conversation.

"Well, I'm personally excited for Defense now that Paddy is the Professor,"

"Yeah," Ron butted in, "I bet he knows all sorts of things from his time as an auror,"

Harry grinned and nodded.

"He and Dad both, though, I will miss Uncle Remus as our professor, his lessons were so practical, he taught things that we can actually use,"

The rest of the group, consisting of Hermione, Ginny,Neville, Mady, and Ron all agreed with Harry.

"All I know is that I cannot wait for Quidditch to start, Gryffindor is going to have a kick ass team this year," Mady spoke, thinking about all of the fun that she and Harry could have playing a full season with their firebolts.

"You're going to be great you two, and, I bet its cool to have your parents be at every match," Neville spoke.

Mady and Harry chuckled lightly

"You say that as if Dad and Uncle Sirius aren't at every match anyways, wearing those god awful lion hats with painted faces, you would think that they were still students here," Harry laughed, causing the rest of the group to form a mental picture of the two in those very outfits.

"I'm just surprised that they haven't tried to steal your spots on the team, them and their Marauding ways,"Hermione said, as she failed to suppress the giggle that was coming from her mouth as she said this.

The rest of the group burst into a fit of laughter that lasted the short distance left to the castle. Climbing out of the carriages

Making her way through the crowd, Mady saw a head of platinum blonde hair and moved toward it, looking to make sure that Harry or any of her other friends did not see her.

"So,Malfoy, what brings you here?" Mady asked Draco, who hadn't been expecting Mady to be near him.

"An education,"Draco answered wittingly, "What about you?"

"Why, the fantastic food of course, the growing girl needs to eat you know,"

"You look like you never do Potter,"

Mady laughed.

"Well, dancing and my high metabolism are responsible for that," Mady laughed as Draco playfully poked her flat stomach, causing Mady's cheeks to tint slightly.

It was amazing how natural it felt to the both of them, just being with each other. The two had only spoke a few words and  yet it seemed like they had a bond that was stronger and closer than either one could have ever predicted. Everything felt completely right when they were together, and they had literally only had one conversation.
