Chapter 33: Hey Mama Part 2

J-Hope

Hana: Oh Darling! You were so amazing! *hugs*

J-Hope: Thanks Mama. I will work harder.

Hana: I can't believe you created those move. It is so... what's that word?

J-Hope: Brilliant?

Hana: Yes! Brilliant! I don't know how you do it but if you ever make it to the school. You will be a rare gem!

Seeing her bright smile creates such a satisfaction to myself. She was the happiest when she dances on D'Cirque stage. It makes her feel so alive. Her bow will be the sincerest as she ended her performance. Every day she will challenge herself to create new choreography and research on the different kind of music for the upcoming tours.

Everyone has created a new set of acts in every 6 months. Once she told me that she wanted to change the evolution of ballet where different genre of music such as EDM and Pop, can be used for ballet. She gets inspiration from nature and also observing the life of humans. Not only that, D'Cirque also has collaboration performances and many performers requested for her. Mama was one busy women.

Mama never taught me ballet. Well she actually tried but failed. I was dumbfounded when I couldn't get the steps right and I was very uncomfortable too. It has lots of discipline especially in posture and how you stand. The other circus performers couldn't hold their laughter when I did a rehearsal with Mama. I was upset when I couldn't perform on tour with her.

Nevertheless, that doesn't keep me away from my dreams. Every day I would go out practice room and learn the dances that I found on the internet and the video that my Mama collected. In each and every state and country, Mama would meet a professional dancer, be it that person is a B-Boy, Tango or a Ballroom dancer. From there she would try incorporate with her dance skills. I also learnt the dances from them since I just want to be like Mama.

One day, Mama went very ill. During one of the rehearsals, she suddenly collapsed. Everyone went into a big shocked. Her face was pale as a piece of paper and her body was cold. We rushed her into the hospital. I didn't know what happen to her since Headmaster Alice told me to stay with the acrobatic team. All I know is that she actually begged Headmaster Alice to let her dance on the tour of D'Cirque despite her recovery.

With approval from the doctor and Headmaster Alice, Mama gave it her all. She was the last act and her performances sent chills down our spines. The energy, you could see it, it fills with colours of the rainbow. I was there together with the other performers backstage and we held our breath as she was dancing like a swan with sharp crystals wings. She ended with a final spin like a top that never stops and the stage releases butterflies everywhere. The music stops and Mama ended with her signature pose. The audience went wild and got up from their seats. It was a never ending applause, whistles and cheering. Feeling so proud of Mama, I ran to her and give her a big hug.

J-Hope: You did it Mama! It was brilliant!

Mama was crying. It was her greatest performance yet. The rest of the D'Cirque join on stage and gave one last bow before the stage lights went out. Everyone hugged each other as we wrapped up the tour. We had an after-tour feast and everyone is partied out. Mama received a lot of compliments especially from one particular person, Headmaster Alice. She was very proud of her even though she was worried about Mama's health.

The night was forever young and it was only just me and Mama. We went back to the circus stage before it will be taken down the next day. We stood on the stage while holding our hands and pretending that there are people on the seats, watching us.

Hana: It is such a great night, isn't?

J-Hope: Oh yes. How I wish I performed on stage with you, Mama. We might stand like this after our performance.

Hana: Yes, Indeed. *smile* But you will have to harder.

We turned to face each other and burst into laughter.

Soon it was quiet again.

Hana: Darling, I believe one day you will stand on the same stage as me. You will be a great performer, better than me.

J-Hope: Don't say that Mama. You are the best performer. I can will never be better than you. The stage is your happiness.

Hana: Aww... That's very sweet of you. Having you is my greatest happiness, Hoseok. There nothing more I can ask for. You have stayed by my side throughout your life. You are a big boy now. It is my duty to support you instead. I want you to achieve your dreams.

J-Hope: Performing with you is my dream. D'Cirque is where I set my dream to be.

Hana: It will be sometime for you to be on this stage. You need to have some basics and carve your ground. Unfortunately, I can't help you since I am not qualified. We need a place. A school. To teach you the fundamentals.

J-Hope: Oh...

Hana: Don't worry. D'Cirque is on a long vacation. We used this period to rediscover ourselves but I want help you to rediscover yourself. In fact, I met a facilitator of my dream school when I was your age, he came to the last show and offered me to teach there.

J-Hope: You mean The International Starlight Academy! TISA!

Hana: Yes, TISA. I recommend you to join the academy. I heard you will realize the person you are and they will train and polish your craft. I have always wanted to be part of the TISA campus.

J-Hope: Then TISA will be! I will go to the school! I will learn the fundamentals and create my own craft. Someday when I am ready, I will join you and we will perform the perfect act ever!

Hana: But first we need to build a resume for you. I heard there is a competition to get to the academy. We have to go back to my hometown.

J-Hope: Wow. That's fast. Are you ok with that?

Hana: The past is behind us. We can still grow a flower on an uneven soil.

J-Hope: Alright then... I am ready Mama.

Hana: Let's pack our bags.
