He wasn't as bad as I thought. He was very self centred and arrogant but charming all the same. He was a gentleman and really knew how to keep the conversation going.
As the day kept going on I thought of him a little more than the other things around me.
I reached home, I was tired as flopped on my bed. I reached for my phone in my pocket and saw the time was 3:00. I still ha an hour before my job. I worked at a library. Mainly for the money but also because I loved reading.
I slept for a while because I was exhausted and then got up and got ready. I wore a jacket on top of the same outfit that I wore to school that day, because it was slightly chilly outside.
I reached the Library in no time as I lived really close to it.
I parked my car, got out and walked towards the Library. I opened the door and was welcomed by the smell of old books, warmth and Shea butter candles. It was really comforting in there.
I saw Mrs.Victoria, the librarian, seated behind the issuing desk, lost in a book.
"Hey Mrs. Victoria!" I greeted her.She greeted me with one of her sweet, heart melting smiles. "Hello, dear"
She was an old British woman, of about 50 years, and was very kind and generous. I had never seen her angry or sad in the two years that I had worked here. She always looked happy.
"Sierra, honey, I have to go to the bank due to some issues, do you think you could handle the library alone today?" She asked.
Her British accent and sweet smile made it hard to refuse."Sure, I'll take care of everything."
"Thank you so much honey, you sure are very sweet. I'll be back in an hour. You can either sit at the reception or file in the books. " She spoke as she picked up her bag and opened the door
I simply nodded. " Bye Mrs. Victoria!" I said warmly.
"Bye sweety" she replied with a smile and with a click the door shut and she was gone.
I walked over to one of the shelves holding the fictions. I bent down to the shelf that had all the sappy love stories and picked out one. I walked back to the reception and sat down and started reading.
About thirty minutes later, someone walked in and I didn't notice him/her because I was too engrossed in my book.
Someone knocked on the wooden reception table, and I snapped out of my trance.
"Excuse me?" Asked a smooth and partly familiar voice. It was too deep to be a girl's voice. I looked up to see myself staring right into Jackson's eyes.
"Oh, Hey! It's you. You work here?"
"Yeah, I do. But, what're you doing here? I didn't think guys like you came here. I mean, libraries, books, isn't all that too nerdish for you?"
"That is so stereotypical." He said accusingly, feigning hurt. I rolled my eyes at that.
"I like reading. And I come here to read pretty often." He said, justifying himself.
