Growing Back Together

Chapter 7

"ETA 5 mins." The paramedic yelled to the back of the ambulance.
"Come on Zosh, stay with me." He clenched her hand, there was faint squeeze back but her eyes did not flutter. Ollie forced a slight smile.

As they arrived at the hospital, the paramedics gently lowered Zosia down as Ollie ran ahead to warn Jac of the situation. As he left the lift the consultant was sat staring at notes,

"Jac look we've got a situation right now."
"What you-" Ollie interrupted,
"Don't have time Jac, Zosia has overdosed she keeps going into cardiac arrest, I don't know what to do."

Just as he finished, the lift doors opened and revealed Zosia,
"Thanks guys," Jac said to the paramedics queuing them to leave, they placed the young doctor in a side room out of sight, Ollie and Jac both knew that if the newspapers found out the 'bipolar doctor overdoses' there would be uproar.

"Let's keep this on the down low." Jac stated. Ollie nodded in agreement. The pair then followed procedure, tests, scans and more tests. Ollie never left her side, clinging to her hand in desperation, she had arrested several times since on the ward but they had managed to get her back every time. Although it half didn't scare Ollie, he knew there was only so many times a person could have a cardiac arrest before permanent damage would occur.

Soon enough, Jac returned with the results,
"Blockage in the valve, nothing we can't fix, the overdose just pushed her heart over the edge. She is scheduled for theatre in 30. She'll be fine Ollie."

The doctor then let out a breathe he didn't realise he was holding, Jac left, leaving the two doctors alone.
"Jesus Zosh, scaring me is not fair. I know your hurting but I'm here. I don't care what you need I will get it for you, so long as your safe and okay. I don't know what's going to happen now, but I will be here whether as your friend or something more. But I will be here." He then hung his head.

Then a squeaky fragile voice filled the air,
"I know Ollie."
