I put my pen down and glanced outside. The sun was rising. With a yawn I slip my journal and pen into my ninja pouch as I stood. Maybe I should visit Naruto and see how his training goes. And maybe bring him a bit of a pick-me-up. With a grin I run over to Ichiraku ramen. The shop wasn't open yet, so I just knock repeatedly on their door.
"What, what?" The old man came to the door grumbling.
"I need ramen." I order rather then ask. "A huge mess of it, biggest you can make."
He squints his eyes at me. "I haven't seen you around before," He mentions.
"I don't eat out here that often. But my teammate Naruto--"
"Ah, Naruto!" He interrupts. "My most valued customer," he grins. I smirked slightly. Why does this not surprise me? "It'll be expensive, but I'm sure you know that with him on your team," he jokes. I grimace and nod. "Well, I'll get started on it now!"
"Thank you," I call after his retreating back as he rushes to start the noodles.
Ten minutes later I'm holding a large bowl of ramen with a lid in my hands as I fly over to where Naruto should be training.
I land next to Sakura, Naruto, and Yamato. "Kakashi-sensei went after the Akatsuki with team Ten?" I asked.
Sakura nodded solemnly. Naruto got a serious look in his face. "Twenty four hours..." He murmured quietly, before stalking over to a basket of soldier pills and shoving several in his face. I walk up next to him.
"Here, I think this will be more satisfying then food pills," I joke.
"No time," he replies seriously before brushing past me. "Captain Yamato, let's keep training!" I lower the proffered bowl and gazed after him, feeling a little lost with this new, serious Naruto.
"Don't feel badly," a new voice spoke softy next to me, causing me to jump. I hadn't been paying attention at all. "He's been like this to everyone. He's determined to perfect this ultimate technique, and the added stress of a time limit is hanging over his head too."
"Hello Sai," I greet dryly. He smiles and nods at me. "And I understand," I sigh, "I've known him long enough to understand."
"That's good,"
"I'm just gonna go out this ramen in my fridge so it doesn't go bad," I say softly, seeing that he was already walking away.
When I come back there's a huge smoking crater in the middle if the field. "I leave you guys alone for just an hour," I say in fake exasperation. I look down to see Naruto in the middle of the crater. "A-amazing," I stare in shock.
We jump down to join Naruto at the bottom. "Your awesome!" Sakura compliments with a smile.
"Your training is progressing well, I see," Sai says formally.
"Would've progressed faster if he'd eaten my ramen," I mutter jokingly.
"Maybe," Naruto grins, slinging an arm over my shoulder which I jokingly push off, wrinkling my nose in distaste. He was sweaty and had been practicing for hours.
"You'll be finished soon, right?" Sakura asked excitedly.
Naruto nods his affirmation. "No, hold on a minute," Yamato disagrees.we all look towards him in confusion. "Give is a little more time," he requested, "There's something I want to try."
***
"Captain Yamato, please, /please/ let me fly ahead!" I requested desperately. The last few times I had asked, he had refused, saying that "we have to stay together as a team".
