Toriel prepared an attack, and you swore you saw tears in her cold gaze. "T-Toriel, we won't fight you." Usually, you were anything but meek, but Toriel seemed prepared to fight. You only gave her mercy, which only seemed to purpose her fight: send a message that you didn't quite understand. You did know you didn't want to fight, so with DETERMINATION, you continued on with Frisk tucked tightly behind your moving form. Spare after spare and talk after talk, she still fought back, each time more tears threatened to break from the cold barrier she had put up.

You let your limbs fall limp by your side, tiredly you kept the fussing Frisk behind you. As exhausted as you were, they could have just shoved your hands away and stood protectively in front of you, but that defeated the purpose of you showing the BRAVERY coursing through your veins. (*Spare). You stood tall with a few scratches and burn marks from the hot flames. You honestly didn't think she had it in her to hurt you any longer. "Toriel." You slowly stepped forward. (*Spare). Toriel didn't speak, nor smile. She stood petrified. Almost as of she were on autopilot, she raised a hand and sent the next flame spell flying toward you and Frisk. You squeaked and brought your arms up, squeezing your eyes shut. Frisk gripped the back of your sweater in a comforting manner. You expected to take the brunt of the damage, having only 1 HP left, but Toriel seemed to have softened up... hopefully. Nothing happened. You opened one eye. All the flames had sped passed you and Frisk, as if avoiding you both completely. Toriel had collapsed onto her knees and was weeping heavily.
"I can't even keep one child safe, let alone two!" She wailed as her paws held her face, tears stained her white fur and simple dress. Her large form shook with each quiver.
Frisk ran to her tugging you along with them. They silently hugged Toriel, patting her back lovingly. From the short time that you had encountered her, you knew she was a kindhearted woman. There was no doubt that she was trying to protect you both from something, but what? You kneel to hug Toriel. "Tori, we won't get hurt... you have to trust that you did your best and that we can move on without getting killed." You smile reassuringly and bring he r paws away from her face. Toriel nods and stands, still wiping away tears and smiling grimly through the sorrow. "If you leave, you may never return. Please understand children, you'll be on your own, but maybe... maybe you stand a chance, the both of you."
*You win! Zero gold and Zero exp earned
*You and Frisk exit through the big, purple door
Toriel waves goodbye sadly. "Be safe children." She weakly murmurs.
You shivered. It was somehow snowing in this underground world, but you didn't question any of this by now. You realized that physics and the reality you knew on the surface was in no way applicable to this scenario. As a human used to the surfaces ways, this perplexed you on how snow, trees, -birds even!- could thrive down here. This place was supposedly fictional, you sighed. Slowly, you and Frisk trudged through the few inches of snow practically freezing to death. The tree tops even swayed from the harsh wind and from the darkened, swirling clouds above was fresh snow gently falling in flurries. No coats or gloves, would you even make it somewhere passed this snow hell?! Your sweater was littered in tears and it was mamed beyond recognition, but it was better than nothing. You began to lose hope, but Frisk grabs your hand filling you with determination. You were going to make it through this for them. "Alright, Frisky, let's do this."
What seemed like hours later, you finally come across this odd bridge with a gate way to big. Your feet ached, and Frisk could really push all your buttons. Although the slight snowy fog blotched your vision, you could still see that anyone could pass through it, even you! You softly chuckle, taking a step toward the too-big-to-be-a-gate gate. Snow crunched under both pairs of feet, and another crunching sound could be heard far off in the distance, a bit too closer for comfort. You freeze, but for another reason besides the blistering wind that bit at you cheeks, hands, and nose. You froze because that noise wasn't from Frisk or you. Your joints stiffened, not responding to and flight or fight defenses.
"Don't ya know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand." A thick, baritone voice erupts from behind you making you shiver. You hoped Toriel was wrong about you both being in danger...
