Heroes Legion Mansion/ Clubhouse Bunker/ Battle Falcon Launch bay: January 10th, 2014: 2:00 AM
The door that lead to the east Bronx opened, and out rocketed the Battle-Falcon out of the launch tunnel, screeching to a stop until it was resting parked on the turntable.
The side door of the vehicle opened and out spilled the members of the Heroes Legion, tired and exhausted from a night of daily er...nightly...Vigilante work.
Agent Smith was there to greet them, "So how did it fare this time?"
"2 shoot ups, 5 mob related crimes, and 42 related street crimes" M-Leader answered, "no metahuman related incidents this time"
"I say "Thank god!" for that one M-Leader" Velocity grumbled, "I'm still smarting from that last New Metahuman incident we dealt with"
"The siege of Seafoam Island?" Agent Smith inquired.
Velocity shook his head, "No, that one I recovered from. I'm talking about the one a week ago, that pyro-kinetic elemental Metahuman. You know, the one that set fire to everything around him if he was scarred or angry, you remember that?"
"Hey you were the one who decided to get the jump on him and cause him to react in surprise with that pillar of fire that you ran into Trevor "Raven pointed out, "besides we managed to calm him down before he accidentally burnt down New Rochelle didn't we, at least he wasn't the kind of metahuman that we'd have to lock up in Ryker's "Specials cases" wing. The man had a wife and newborn child after all, he never asked to have his gene activate during a moment of frustration during a traffic jam on his commute to work."
"None of the Metahumans whose genes have absorbed enough of the fallout M-Radiation to become 100% active, getting their powers activated in the process ever will Raven" M-Leader said solemnly, "but at least he was a reasonable man who let us help him learn to control his power, that's all that matters is just like Hiro Nakajima we managed to help a new Metahuman out"
"I just hope he doesn't draw the attention of Meta-Master and the Dark Elite" Silicon said, "with sonar among them they might sense his M-gene somehow, someway. You know they are looking for "new recruits" and when they "new recruits" they mean "Join us or we'll make you join us" instead."
"Yeah well, to be honest kid" Velocity said rubbing the sections of his costume that hid the bandages that covered the third degree burns he hadn't yet healed since then, "I almost pity the fools who come after that man's family at this point."
"That reminds me" Agent Smith said looking at M-Leader, "What about his daughter, you think she is or could end up becoming a metahuman like her father?"
"It's possible, but we won't know until she's entering puberty until then" M-Leader confirmed.
"Why is that?" Raven asked her team leader curious, "couldn't we just do a blood test on her or something?"
"We could, but it wouldn't matter" M-Leader said shaking his head, "the M-Gene is a part of the Metahuman's body so it develops with it as they grow...she's a baby, her M-Gene won't be developed enough to get powers nor would it have the right genetic triggers to develop its growth. The kind of triggers that are produced by the body as it changes during puberty. Once that happens yes, I'd say the girl might get powers of her own eventually, depending entirely on her M-Gene's Mutagenesis code and the amount of M-Radiation that it needs to absorb and metabolise in order to trigger mutagenesis."
