Mirrors

Two mirrors stood and stared,
Not a maze, a puzzle, but a distant dream.
A half cracked window slid open,
And a creature crept out.
The moon shined bright,
The edelweiss sang a dirge,
The broken mirror called out a pretty name.
Your soothing name, my love.
Silent turned the forest,
The beasts were all dead,
As ghostly Time rode in,
In a green and red cloak.
'Tell me tell me o brother,
What do you seek?'
'A life with her
Through all eternity.'
'So shall you have' cried he,
As he sent the mirror away.
And took me out of the shell,
I could have her for eternity,
But she couldn't have me for a day.
