Empty Shades of Black and Blue

An empty hearse, no one's waiting,
The severed head of a horse greets me,
My body's ten feet under, my fleeting steps alight,
Running on faith, running for just a second more,
To this life, this life, and all its promise.

Some bullshit images, and some vague meaning,
The falsity, the scarcity, the propensity for the extra hour,
Tell me I have lost, for I have died before,
A billion times I have forgotten,
Still I stand for that second, that holy blessed chance.

The hypocrisy of my soul lies beneath the pillars of deadened hope.
The travesty of my lies that light up the saddened truth.
A morose redundance that trounces any semblance of sanity.
Still I want to live a thousand years, and perhaps a second more.
