Ok this is a bit of information to understand the fanfiction a bit better
facts about the Vocaloids:
1. Vocaloids are cybernetic experiments who were never meant to reach the outside world but they did. (that's why they can't just leave at any time)
2. There are 'broken/defective' Vocaloids they never got out of the experimental stage.
3. there are still 'fake' Vocaloids being produced .the 'real' ones take them in too. Though none have come in a while
4. Vocaloids basically are all in some enclosed society and all song producers are Vocaloids undercover who want to at least be able to communicate to people through the web. however, some producers or people that use the Vocaloid program are people sworn to secrecy
5. Vocaloids do have real human emotion because before becoming Vocaloids they were people, more specifically orphans or homeless people
