A Dragon's Melancholy

Linde

My tears cannot hold back as I hurriedly run to escape our castle, it was only yesterday that my father died and yet here's my mother fighting for the people of Rausten,

the attack in our kingdom is unexpected, too many lives were sacrificed and I cannot help but to cry, as my mother also sacrifices her life just to defend Rausten.

I love my mother so much, she's not just a mother to me  but also a great friend and an intellectual teacher, she's the one who taught me how to use the magic of dragons, I owe to her all the things that I have today,

I just pray to the draco constellation to guide and keep mother safe.

" Princess we must hurry,  and reach the Altos forest, your mother wants you to go in Archanea and keep refuge there."

Archanea? The kingdom of mages, I've never been there before but people says that it is a paradise there, all the people is hospitable and prosperity and peace is in the land.

" But Meister Knoll, why the Altos forest? The queens road is a much faster route to go there. "

" Trees provide a great cover princess, besides  queens road is surely guarded by the orcs to prevent any people of Rausten to escape. "

We are running as fast as we could, passing this cold and narrow hallway, I don't know were this passage will lead us, but since this is a secret passage I presume that this will lead us into an escape route.

I don't know how many minutes we run but,

Alas! Now I can see a glimmer of light at the end of this passage, the fresh air welcomes us as we reach the end.

I quickly scan my surroundings, the secret passage concealed in a cave leads us into the Peak mountain, from here I can see the view of the castle,

rumbles of stone were falling as the catapults hit the castle, only few dragons fly as they fight the enemies below, and as I stare at the castle----my home, a blinding light of green emits in the part were the throne room can be found.

I don't have to worry for mother, I trust her and I know that she's strong enough to handle the situation.

" I knew it, the queen will send her daughter to escape, and look who's with her, a bishop? Then this will be easy for me to finish you both. "

I quickly turn around, leaning against the tree is a handsome orc, he doesn't look like a normal orc, he is wearing just an armor in his shoulders and trouser,

his skin reflects the color of light  green, with a well defined muscles and a handsome face.

He stared at me intently, I don't know what his thinking, but with the look in his eyes, he's a dangerous one.

" Stand back princess Linde, he's king Maledus of Thorum, I will buy time for you to escape."

The king of Thorum is our enemy, mother told me that he's famous as the orc that can slash a thousand life, if Meister Knoll faces him, he will be in a critical situation.

" But I cannot just leave you here, your the only one I can trust now, I can fight him in my dragon form Meister. "

" No princess! Listen to me, the only hope of Rausten is in your hands, if we both die here then, the kingdom will fall in the hands of savages,

I can fight him alone, leave me here and be safe, travel in your human form to avoid danger, its an honor to serve you princess Linde. "

This is unfair, why does all the persons I care about sacrifices just to ensure my life is safe?

I promise you Meister and to all the people of Rausten, that I will be back and bring once again the glory of our kingdom.

I quickly run into the woods, orcs is skilled in tracking, I must reach Archanea in no time, there I should ask help about what happened here.

The peak mountain is known for its thick forests, I don't know how to get out of this forests,

big old trees can be seen everywhere, the chirping of birds and the rustle of leaves are the only sound that can be heard here

I still have to pass in the mountain to reach the village of Yvet, the closest village in the boarder of Archanea.

I touch the amulet given by mother, so this is the aerus stone, a special dragon stone that grants a manakete to freely control air in human form.

Pointing my hands in the tree, I concentrated and try to have a connection with the stone, I close my eyes as I feel the air that fills my lungs and the magic that flows within me.

An air ball appears in my palm, it keeps on swirling like a raging tornado inside, with full force I hurl the air ball to the tree in front of me,

a small explosion occur as the small tree came crashing  down, oh boy this is bad, I might get the attention of any creatures living here.

A moment of silence in the forest, after I blow up that tree, seems like I have a useful power to defend myself here.

An hour of walking makes my feet sore, I must find a stream to fill my thirst, I can sense that someone is watching me since the incident with the tree,

a crack of twigs coming from my back quickly got my attention, I manage to create air balls just in case that this stranger is going to attack me.

I'm pretty sure that its not an animal, by the sound of the twig, it was like being stepped by a boots or something.

In just a blink of an eye, an arrow almost hit me in the side of my face, an archer? in the middle of this forests, seems suspicious.

There is a letter written in a silk, knotted in the arrow, I immediately get the silk and read the message.
