Criminal Minds One Shots

Failed.

Suddenly the tears start flooding down Spencer Reids' face. He starts replaying the scene in his mind again.

"love you" Maeve said at the phone booth talking to him. He hardly expected her to say that, considering they hadnt met in person yet. But still, He felt a surge of happiness pulse through him.

The woman said "I will shoot her, Reid" while grabbing Maeves hair. Reid looked at the woman and then looked at Maeve and saw her pain. Her beautiful green eyes were bloodshot and her skin was stained with tears. Her hair was dirty and matted, her clothes torn, and her body swollen, pained and purple because of the many bruises that were caused. It caused him so much internal strife to see that the first time he meets her, she is in utter danger. Reid gulped, feeling his throat knot, trying to stop the tears from streaming free.
"Take me instead,"he said boldly.
Thr woman stalker of Marve glared at Reid with cold, heartless brown eyes. Then, as if it were just another little game, she shot Maeve without a care in the world.

'Its been 9 days.' he thought. He ran his hands through greasy unwashed hair. He was about to read Finnegans Wake for the 3rd time, but all of the sudden his emotions just burst. He got up fiercely and looked at the multiple fruit baskets Garcia had gotten him and grabbed an orange. He had never been good at sports, but he threw this fruit so angrily and power packed you'd think he'd be a star quarterback.
"I failed!" he screamed. "I was supposed to be the one protecting you, but I failed!" He fell down to his knees and bowed his head as the sobs started to come.
"i failed, I failed, I failed." He muttered softly. He looked up, gesturing to Maeve in the sky.
"Im so sorry, Maeve. There will be justice and revenge. I promise."
And Dr. Spencer Reid never strays from his promises.
