Jasper awoke at the bottom of the sea, this time unbound. And alone.
She sat up the best she could on the uneven sand, observing her surroundings. She seemed to be in a trench, but as her memories resurfaced she realized that she must be in the split in the island. She hadn't sunk as deep as she should've, landing on a ledge jutting from the side of the misplaced chunk of Earth.
Lapis was gone... And it was all Rose's fault!
Jasper punched the wall of dirt and rock at her side, breaking a large chunk from it then crushing it in her hand. "Lapis..."
They were no longer Malachite, no longer the same entity. She growled in frustration, and had she not been underwater an angry tear would have slipped down her face. She missed it, the feeling of having someone.
She shook her head, in denial of herself. She was fine by herself. After all, she had been alone for a long time.
No friends. No allies.
No Diamond.
She was the perfect soldier, but it hadn't been enough. Her Diamond... Rose Quartz had taken her only purpose in existence, and now, in the form of the Quartz child 'Steven', she had taken Jasper's last hope of redemption. Her last hope at happiness.
Jasper growled and began to pace, her thoughts dark. How to get Lapis back.
How... HOW TO MAKE ROSE PAY!
She stalked into the darkness of the ocean, hoping to find an upward slope to Beach City. It was dark, probably night. The Crystal Gems should have been long gone, so there was no point in searching for them just yet. She had time, so why waste it? She could wait for Lapis forever if she had to.
