I got home on that Friday night ready to tell her everything. I've been thinking a lot about it these past days. When she finished to serve diner, I held her hands and told her that I have something very important to tell her. She got excited and curious. I felt so bad and I guess she noticed it because after a moment, her smile faded away. I didn't know if I could say it right now or not because of her reaction. On the other hand, I've been waiting for too long.. I got to tell her.
"I want a divorce." I calmly said
She didn't seem to be bothered by it. She simply asked me "Why ?"
I couldn't tell her because I felt ashamed. The wife with who I've been spending years of my life now became a total stranger.
She removes my hands from her hands and gets up "Seems like you're not going to tell a word about it." She said
"Wait!" I stopped her gesturing her to wait. I get the papers out of my bag.
"Here." I said giving the divorce papers
She grabs it and immediately starts reading it.
"I will give you my car, house and a 30% share of my company" I finally explained
She ripped the papers into pieces.
"Look Lola, I do care-"
Heartbroken, she cried loudly in front of me. Which I expected. The idea of a divorce seemed more real now.
"You DID. Not anymore.." She stormed out the kitchen
I feel nothing but pity. Now that I think of it I only stayed because I did pity her. I felt sorry for her. I wasted her ressources and her time. But I couldn't take back what I said. She lost my heart to Heather, my co worker and she can't change that..
