Kira pov

'How shameful of me, walking through work with a big bruise on my face.'

As I walked through the work place, everyone kept on asking me about why my cheek was bruised. Seeing that I didn't want them to get involved with mine & Josiah's 'relationship', I simply told them that a soccer ball had hit me on the face on my way home. They bought my lie of course.

'If anyone else is to get involved, it'll cause huge problems for both me & that person.'

I grabbed the lunch tray that I saw. For lunch today, it was turkey sandwiches. Thank god the sandwiches are actually really good, otherwise no one will eat. Anyway, I took the lunch tray up to Marcos room. When I walked in, I found that there was another man there. He was tall, and had messy black hair, freckles & brown eyes. He appeared to be talking with Marco.

"Oh, hey Kira, yoi." Marco greets. The other man looked my way, "Oh, hi! I'm only visiting." He said. I gave him a polite smile, "Thats alright. At least Marco isn't alone. Anyway, my name is Dr Allastor D Lilith Kira. I'm taking care of him." His eyes widened, "Wait...I know that name...where have I heard it?" The freckled man wondered out loud. "This is Ace, by the way, yoi." Marco adds. He offered a hand shake, one that I gladly took, "Nice to meet you, Doctor." Ace greets. I smile at him politely, "A absolute pleasure, Ace." I turn my attention to Marco, "Well then, Marco..bout time we check up on you." He nods, "Yeah, yoi-Hey..what happened to your cheek, yoi?" "Oh yeah, now that you mention it, you have a bruise on your cheek! What happened?" Ace asked.

'Crap! No! I can't let two innocent men get involved with whats happening between Josiah & I. I have to keep this secret safe from them.'

"O-oh...well when I was walking down my street, a soccer ball came flying at me, and whacked me straight in the face. It stung so much." I lied, trying hard to not remember the pain from yesterday. "Damn, did the people who kicked it apologized to you?" Ace asked. I shook my head, "They ran off, leaving me in pain." I mumbled. "Bastards..I probably would've wasted them for you, yoi." Marco states boldly. I blush, "W-well...it was probably an accident. But anyway, I don't wanna dwell from the past, l-lets just start & see if you can walk a little bit, Marco."

I took the blanket off, and revealed Marco's leg. I did all the doctor check ups on his leg, and all appeared to be well. Really, he just needs to keep it well rested, and to not move around so much. Until he can finally move, he's gonna stay here until I say that its good to go. Soon, Ace left, saying something about meeting up with his girlfriend in town.

"So, Marco, what is it that you do for a living?" I asked. "Me?" He asked. I chuckled, "Who else?" He blushed, "W-well...When I left university, I originally planned to be a photographer, yoi. But..It didn't go do well, and..I kinda have no job at the moment, yoi." He spoke. I pout with thought, "Life never goes to plan, otherwise life would be easy, and life has never been easy." I stated.

'I should know after all.'

"I totally agree, yoi." He then sighed, "Man...My sister is gonna kick my ass, yoi." He mumbles. I giggle, "Then that means you might end up spending some more time here!" I joked. He shivered, "Just between you & me, I've never really liked hospitals..and no offense, or doctors as well, yoi." He whispered so that only I could hear. I chuckled, a bubble of happiness in my belly, "Thats totally fine! A lot of people feel like that a lot. So it doesn't really faze me so much." I state, putting my glasses on.

Then suddenly, my doctor caller went off (its this little machine that tells me that I'm needed up at the front office to help with something). I rummaged through my coat pocket, and clicked the button that said that I was on my way. I sighed, and turned to Marco, "Well, duty calls. I'll see you around, Marco." I spoke. "I can't wait, yoi." I blushed, and waved as I left the room.

I watched as Kira left. Her curtain of blond hair flowing behind her as she walked. I stared at the space that she was in, and I was left there, wondering,

'Why didn't those people apologise for hitting that ball into her face, yoi? She never did anything wrong to them, yoi.'

I shook my head, and decided to not think about it too much.

*timeskip*

Ever since that day with Kira coming in with that bruise on her face, she wouldn't visit me as much anymore. And whenever she did come in, it was because I was in due for a daily check up. During those check ups, she wouldn't even make eye contact with me, and whenever we do make eye contact, she'd quickly look away. As much as I wanted to confront her, I decided to just let it go, and just leave it all alone.

On other news, it turns out that Ace's girlfriend, Itami, was Kira's younger cousin. I was surprised when I found out, because they look nothing alike. We found out when Itami came in to visit me, and Kira was in the room, and they greeted each other in a family like way. Kira herself was surprised when I said that I've known Itami for a little while. It was then that I had admitted to her that I was a part of the Whiteboard mafia, and that I was the one who recruited Itami in the first place, as Kira mentioned Itami being in the mafia.

"How strange..." Kira murmured. I nod, "The world is small, yoi." I state. But then, I notice bruises on her arms, and something on her neck as she goes to clean something that was on the floor. "Kira, why do you have bruises on your arms, yoi?"

I froze as soon as Marco mentioned the bruises. Immediately, I felt myself shake,

*flashback*

Tonight, I had to work late, as one of our doctors had to go home early to attend a parent-teacher interview. So I, being the kind doctor I was, took over her place for her. I thought that I'd just be gone for another hour....but boy, was I wrong. I was here at work until 12 in the morning. When I got home, I was exhausted, and just wanted sleep...but...No.

"Where the hell were you?" My body froze when I heard Josiah call out. He switched the lounge light on, and there he was, sitting there, looking angry. I swallowed some saliva, surely he'd understand if I told him the truth, right? "I took over someones place in night shift. They really needed a person, they had to get to a parent-teacher interview at their childs school-" His movements were fast, but not sloppy. I cried out in pain when his strong hands squeezed the living life out of my arms. "Why didn't you ask me first? I should've gotten a input in this. I would've said yes. You know better, Kira. You must ALWAYS tell me what you're doing, understand?" he snarled. I tearfully nod, "Y-Yes! Please just let me go!" I whimpered.

He tore his hands away from me, and I watched as he downed a whole bottle of vodka. He wiped away any contents that tried to leak out, "Get out of my sight, dog." he hissed. Immediately, I ran upstairs, and isolated myself in my room. I cried myself to sleep that night.

*flashback end*

'Oh what do I say, what do I do? There's no way out of this-'

Then, at that correct moment, my doctor caller went of loudly. Silently, I blessed it. I looked up at Marco, and put on a fake smile. "Oh? Opps it appears that someone is calling me." I stood up abruptly, "Duty calls!" I rushed out of there, as Marco yelled out for me to come back.

'That was close.'

(A/N:Hey guys do you think I should change the title of the story? I'm thinking of changing it to "The many mysteries of Kira." What do you think? Do you think I should?)
