Third pov
A purple & blue 1967 chevy impala rolled up onto the sidewalk, the wheels narrowly skimming the sidewalk. Within the vehicle, Marco breathed in & out. He stared at himself through the rear view mirror. He was burrowing one of Thatch's suits, and he must say, Thatch does have a good taste in fashion. Marco looked at his phone, and smirked to himself: "7:30, right on time, yoi." he mutters, before getting out of his car, and walking up to the front door. He reached out, and knocked on the door, and waited patiently.
The door opened, and revealed Itami in a white night robe. "Jesus boy, you're legit on time." Itami chuckles. Marco blushed, "Well she did say 7...so.." Itami rolled her eyes, and sighed, "I guess you're right..anyway, you guys probably want to leave, so I won't hold you back any longer." Itami cocked her head to a 90 degree angle, "KIRA! MARCO'S HERE!" Marco listened closely as he heard elegant steps come towards him. Marco nervously swallowed some saliva, all he could do was just imagine what she was wearing. Would it be lace? Silk? Satin? His questions were left unanswered...but soon they were all answered as soon as he saw Kira in this:
Immediately, Marco's breath was taken away. She looked absolutely beautiful in her dress. He could feel his blush become even redder the more he stared at her. Along with her dress, her hair was in a elegant side bun, and had flower crown that had red roses & daisies. She wore red lipstick & mascara. And in her hands, was a red & black lace fan. She fanned herself as she strolled up to Marco. She too was blushing.
"Kira..." Marco started. "Yes?" she called. "You look....beautiful, yoi." he gasped. Kira's blush grew by the second, "T-Thank you...but I had a little help." Kira stammered, the speed of her fanning going up a little bit. Itami smugly looked between the two awe stricken adults, and chuckled, "Well, you both better get going. You certainly don't want to be late to the city ball, hmm?" she asked with a teasing voice. "R-Right!" Marco stammered, straightening up. He offered his hand towards Kira, "Shall we, m'lady?" he asked. Kira giggled as she took his hand, "Let's go."
As Marco lead Kira out to his car, he helped her inside the vehicle, and they drove off into the night to the city ball
*timeskip*
They arrive at the venue. It was a place that was large enough to hold a city ball. Kira was amazed as she looked round, as she had never been to this side of town before. Everything around her was shining, and people wore such beautiful gowns. Even Marco was amazed at the sight of venue. It was like this big sparkly diamond that only sophisticated people could touch. Marco looked over to Kira, and smiled when she saw her eyes become sparkly.
'She looks like she just discovered a brand new world, yoi.'
Kira caught Marco staring, and she blushed a shade a red. "W-What?" she asked. Marco chuckled, "You look very happy is all, yoi." he then adds, "And well...you look even greater with that smile on your face, yoi." Kira immediately started to fan herself so that she wouldn't faint. She didn't know what to do, or how to even reply to that! What does she say-
"Well do you wanna get something, yoi?" Kira felt relief, but also guilty for not responding, "O-Oh um...my throat does feel a bit parched." Kira said. Marco took her by the hand, "Lets go then." He lead her through the chattering crowd, and eventually they found themselves at the drinks bar. Kira didn't really know what to order, so she just got a simple glass of pinot noir: a red wine, with ice. Marco simply got some sake, but made sure to not guzzle it all down in one go like Ace does. He was, after all, with a beautiful lady, and didn't want to look bad in front of her.
Marco looked over to Kira, he didn't really know what to do in a situation like this. In fact, he's never even been to a dance like this. Whenever there was one on in school, he'd miss out on it, and just hand out with Ace at his place with his two brothers. Over & over he couldn't help but think about how Kira is probably thinking how lame he's being, and probably wishing that she was to leave.
'Do something! You wanted to at least try & get closer to her, now is not the time to back away, yoi!'
Marco cleared his throat, "How are you feeling, yoi?" he asked. Kira smiled, "I'm feeling pretty good. I've never been to a ball before..so this is totally new to me." Kira chuckled. Marco tilted his head to the side, "Really? Not even in high school, yoi?" he asked. Kira shook her head, "Nope, I was only focused on getting to University, and then starting my life as a doctor." Kira adds, then chuckles, "I sound so lame." Marco shook his head, "No you don't!" he bursted, making Kira look at him. "U-Um..its not lame at all, yoi...you had something to aim for..and you got it, I admire that about you, yoi." Marco quickly adds. Kira smiled kindly, "Really?" Marco nods, "Yes, really."
The night crawled on with the two talking to each other, and getting to know each other better, it wasn't long until Kira knew everything about Marco, and Marco (presumably) knowing almost everything about Kira. Each detail that Kira collected, she stored it in her mind, and did her best with having it permanently etched in her brain.
'If I want him to stay in my life for good...I'll have to pay extra attention to him after all.'
But then, it was time for the dancing. The two looked around, and noticed that everyone all had their partners, and were slow dancing to the music being played. They looked back at each other, and they were filled with blushes on their cheeks. Marco could feel his nerves bundling up like a pile of wood. He took a step towards Kira, "Kira..dance with me, yoi." he urged. Kira let out a noise that sounded like a surprised squeak. "D-Dance?" she stammered. He took her hand in his, "I really want to dance with you...I want to show everyone how beautiful you truly are, yoi." he declared. Kira's heart raced as soon as Marco said that. Marco held her hand, "Please..we'll go slow, yoi." Kira stared at Marco for a moment, before curling her hand in his, "What are we waiting for?"
Marco took that as a sign that she said yes. He smiled happily, and lead her to the dance floor, where everyone was. Kira put her hands on his shoulder and in his hand. Marco carefully put his hand on her waist, and in her hand. They started off slow, and moved in time with the music that was playing.
'Is this what it feels like..to be a princess? To feel untouchable? Like you'll crack in people's hands? I wonder what you're thinking, Marco?'
"Kira.." Marco starts, pulling her a little bit closer, "Yes?" she breathes. Marco's sizzling stare made Kira's heart beat madly, "I'll always be there for you, yoi. If you need me, call me, yoi." he reminded. Kira nods, feeling herself leaning in closer, "Please...stay with me." Kira begged, letting her true self crack in a little bit.
But before they could close the gap, the music stopped, and everyone was clapping. The two sprang apart, and started to clap along with the crowd.
'You feel so close..yet so far away..' They both thought
