Chapter Two
Staring into the wide, hazel eyes of the celebrity, Paige's heart pounded in her ribcage. Oh god, she had to be dreaming. She had to be. She backed away and pinched herself, swearing to herself when it didn't work and stumbling backwards until she bumped into Jenni, who had descended down the stairs when she wasn't looking.
"Isn't it wonderful?" her best friend breathed.
"No!" Paige exclaimed. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god-"
"I told you we shouldn't have told her," Ingrid said from the top of the stairs.
"This is kidnapping!" Paige shouted. "You could go to jail for this!" Jenni grabbed her shoulder and spun her around, a serious look in her eyes.
"We'd only go to jail if you told on us," she said darkly. "You're not going to tell on us, are you?"
"But-but I can't leave him here! Now that I know, I'll have to tell someone! You know me, I can't lie!" Paige scrambled to form sentences as she fought the urge to look behind her. "What's the point in all this Jen? Someone is going to find out sometime and you three are going to get into deep trouble! Jenni, this is too far, too far!"
Jenni looked down, having the decency to look guilty. "I'm sorry, I just didn't want to live without him."
"You don't even know him!" Paige yelled. Spinning on her heel, she went back towards the captured actor and grabbed the knot on the gag around his mouth. "You can't kidnap people Jenni! If you 'love' this guy so much, what in the world is kidnapping him going to achieve? Nothing, I tell you, nothing! What about that Claire or Claud girl? She's appealing everywhere to find him!"
A door slamming grabbed her attention and Paige whipped around, her jaw unhinging when a small 'chink' rang out, indicating that Jenni had locked the door behind her. "Jenni!" she screamed, running up the stairs. Smacking the door with the palm of her hand repeatedly, Paige demanded for them to open the door and let them the hell out.
A small muffled grunt eventually dragged her attention back to the only other occupant of the basement. Looking over her shoulder, the Josh fella was glaring at her through narrowed eyes. "What the hell are you glaring at?" Paige spat angrily, still fuming from the fact that her best friend had just locked her in her basement. "I'm not the one who kidnapped you!"
"Shmp hmp!" The actor replied, his anger matching Paige's. He made a point of thrashing in the chair, only really able to move his legs and feet since Jenni hadn't bound those up. Whether out of choice or mistake, Paige wasn't sure.
"Uh . . ." Screwing her eyebrows up in confusion, Paige approached him carefully, resuming her action of undoing the knot of the gag around his mouth. As she loosened it, the scarf-Ray's, weirdly enough-fell away, hanging loosely around his neck. Paige winced at the two small cuts that had formed at either side of his mouth. Ray must have tied the knots of her scarf . . . she had a habit of tying too hard.
"You girls are crazy!" was the first thing out of the guy's mouth.
"Excuse me, I had nothing to do with it!" Paige snapped. "I didn't even know who you were until you were kidnapped. Jenni was the one who cried herself to sleep when you started dating freakin' Cathleen!"
"Who the hell is Cathleen?!"
Paige frowned. "Your girlfriend, duh," she replied.
"It's Claudia, you freak!" Josh snapped.
"Okay, I understand you're upset," Paige said, holding her hand up, "but let's not resort to name calling, alright?" Josh groaned in frustration, throwing his head back and struggling to pull his wrists out of the handcuffs.
