' you can't do that , you're a girl '
i am a young woman
and i am not ashamed to say that
those seven words have left
so many young girls
with big dreams
with broken hearts
to be told
that they cannot do something
because of their gender
because we were all raised
on the ideal
that women
need to be protected
for they are fragile humans
incapable of intolerable pain
but how many times have we had
our hearts broken
how many times have we been pushed down
and left with bruises
and scratches
and scars that may never heal
yet managed to stand up
and change the world with just our words
we are not better than men
no
but we are better
then the stereotypical norm
that has been set for women since
the beginning of time
feminism is not an ugly word
it is the way some women and men
have used it
feminism is wanting gender equality
not making women better then men
because that's how it started
men feeling they were better
but they are wrong
we are meant to stand together
all over the world
no matter the gender
color
shape
size
or sexuality
we shall all stand as one
and when humanity begins to realize this
then we will finally accomplish world peace
