The morning came in a rush, with a hang over to last an army for months, and a lot of tears. Viktor wouldn't let go of Yuuri until they got off the elevator with their luggage and had to check out, and even then, it was a struggled to walk. Yurio had somehow managed to avoid all contact with the other competitors and just hung out on the lobby couch with Otabek. Most of the competitors had left the night before, but Pichit, Emil, and Micky were still here.
"It seems like most of the crowd is gone now, I wonder where Yokav is?" Viktor said, scanning the room.
"He's already boarded his flight an hour ago, he didn't want to stay in Barcelona any longer then he needed too." Yurio said over his shoulder.
"Huh? Then why aren't you with him, Yurio?" Yuuri asked.
"My plane ticket got switched, so I'm taking the next flight in a couple hours."
Just then, Yuuri's cell phone rang, it was his Mom. "Sorry, I have to take this."
"Put it on speaker, I want to speak to your mother too." Viktor said, plopping himself on the couch next to Yurio.
"Heh, alright. Hi m-"
"You did so good!" A triplet said
"What was with that angry face you made during your Eros routine?" Another said.
"Don't make fun of Yuuri like that!" Minako said, almost yelling. Yuuri regretted putting the phone on speaker, because now everyone could hear how crazy home life is.
"Uh well. See."
"Hello, Katski family! It's Viktor!" Viktor said, cupping his hands and yelling into the phone.
Yuuri's mom was the one to answer. "Oh goodness, Yuuri we are all so proud of you, congratulations on getting 2nd place!"
"Thanks mom, that means a lot." Yuuri said, an awkward smile on his face.
"Hello, Ms. Katski!" Pichit called from behind.
"Was that Pichit? Hello!!" Yuuri's mom said, sounding enthused.
"Mom please, you're on speaker."
"Oh don't worry, you're lucky I don't have your father in the room, he's been sobbing for the last two hours about how proud he is of you, it's so loud I should think the whole city could hear him!" On the other end of the phone, you can hear wailing from a man and laughter.
"Wow, I forgot about your family, pig."
"Oh, hi Yurio! Congratulations on getting gold, dear!!"
"Hmph."
"Mom please. My plane is about to board-" Yuuri realized what he said, and knew that the time had come to tell his family. "Um mom? Listen, I need to tell you something..?"
"Hm? Sure honey, is everything alright?"
Viktor looked at Yuuri, a serious look on him.
"Y-yeah, it's just...Well Viktor has, you see..." Yuuri took a deep breath and looked straight ahead, not meeting any eyes. "Viktor has invited me to stay with him in Russia to be my coach, and I've accepted."
Silence was on the other end of the phone, it seemed everyone heard him. Yurio looked shocked, while Viktor looked...Almost tense.
"Yuuri...That's." Yuuri's mom began, and soon you can hear muffled sobs.
"Mom?!"
"Fantastic!! Oh I'm so happy for you, oh a new ice rink, I remember when you were little you were packed and ready to run away to St. Petersburg, oh your dream is coming true!"
Yuuri's face was brighter then a tomato. "MOM!! You promised you'd never mention that again!"
"Oh I can't help it dear, ever since Viktor came to the springs, all those memories came clouding back. Oh do you remember the time when that one boy, oh what's his name..."
"Mom it's been really great talking to you but-Viktor don't take the phone!" Right out of his hand, Viktor stole the phone.
"Hello? This is Viktor. Do continue." Yuuri was bright red trying to take the phone back.
"Vincent! That's his name, he looked so much like Viktor that when you met him, you almost cried. You two were such friends, what ever happened to that boy...?"
"Mom!!" Yuuri had managed take the phone back from Viktor and was out of breath. "Plane to catch, call you when I'm at Viktors!!" Not even a chance for her to say goodbye, he just hung up.
Yurio was laughing harder then ever, and Pichit had recorded the whole thing.
"Vincent huh..." Viktor said, closing his eyes. "I can't believe Yuuri would be swayed by a second best."
"No! Nono that's not it at all!" Yuuri said, shaking his head.
"We're calling your mom again when we get home, so come on." Viktor said, grabbing Yuuri's hand and dragging him and their luggage to the door. "I want to hear more stories."
"Viktor!"
The plane ride was going to be long, and the questions of Yuuri's past would not end.
