•Chapter 4•
Maddie's POV
I slowly woke up, rubbing my crusty eyes.
Jeez, must have been a pretty deep sleep!
I let my eyes adjust to the light.
"Oh. My. God."
I looked around, squinting in disbelief. My once light purple walls with millions of pictures had turned into bare yellow wallpaper. Instead of my soft, neon pink sheets, I was laying in uncomfortable, boring white bedspread.
Where am I?
I thought back to last night. All I remember was falling asleep after mom took away my phone.
Maybe I should see where I am?
I staggered to the bedroom door, and threw it open. Right away, I smelled bacon and pancakes cooking. I looked around, taking in the rooms and the staircase, leading downstairs. Before heading down, I listened for a clue of who's house I was in.
"Today we should go to the lake!" A young boy said.
"Yeah, maybe Julia will come too!" A squeaky voice said.
Her voice sounded freakishly familiar. I raced down the stairs and in front of me were a mom and dad, with their four children around the table, eating breakfast. My mouth dropped all the way open.
"Where am I?" I asked.
I was taken aback by how squeaky and innocent my voice sounded.
"What do you mean, Emily?" A boy that looked about 15 asked.
Emily? Who's Emily? Am I supposed to know who that is? Is that ME?
They must of noticed I was utterly confused, because there's faces went from confused to concerned.
"Are you feeling ok Emily?" the lady asked.
"Who's Emily?" I asked, grabbing my hair.
But instead of grabbing my thick hair that went down to my chest, I was holding thin hair that went halfway down my back. I let out a tiny squeak.
The woman walked over to me, and bent down. "Your Emily, my daughter. You have three brothers and a sister, and your 12 years old."
