Haru was alone in the flower shop, cleaning up the flower petals and leaves on the floor. His boss was away for the day, and had asked him to minf the shop, which he accepted. He liked being there, among the variety of colourful and nice-smelling flowers, but the black-haired male disliked the company of customers. Fortunately for him, not many of those were expected to come in today, as it was cold and snowy outside and many people had left for the holiday.
He was surprised to see two emerald green eyes meeting his as he looked through the glass window. The brunette outside seemed to be a little shy and to want to come inside the flower shop, but was unsure, his eyes scanning the shelves covered in plants and beautiful flowers of every size, shape and colour. After a deep breath, he pushed the door open and stepped in, welcomed by the warm temperature of the room.
"How may I help you?" the question rolled off Haru's tongue monotonously. He may not have been fond of customers, but he had to make an effort and greet them properly, this customer was no exception. Although he did not feel as ill-at-ease with the tall, green-eyed brunette as he usually did. Something about the kind-faced male calmed him and made him want to help the man in front of him.
"O-oh well uhm.. You see, my mother asked me to buy some flowers for a friend of hers, but I know nothing about flowers, haha... I don't know what kind she wants. " He scratched the back of his neck, flashing an awkward smile. "Do you think you can help me?"
"Of course. Do you need a small bouquet, a large one? Or do you need something in a pot? Which colours do you need? If you see nothing here that interests you, I can make a special composition around the back." Something about this stranger who seemed around his age inspired him to compose, which had never happened before with any other customer. The other customers were always loud, often accompanied by obnoxious, clumsy and rude children, the complete opposite of the brown-haired man before him.
"Well... I don't know what she would like... She's a kind woman and likes sweet, purple things..." The young man ran a hair through his brown hair, looking around the shop.
"I think I have the perfect thing." Haru walked up to the shelves near the counter, where small, potted flower-bearing plants grew in pots, taking one down and putting it upon the counter. "These are only starting to flower so the colours are still pale, but these plants don't grow much bigger so they are perfect to keep inside. The flowers will be bright pink in about a week and will spread a sweet smell."
"That looks perfect! I think that will do!" He flashed a kind, honest smile. "Thank you! I really didn't know what to pick.. " He put the money down onto the counter to pay for the flowers, meeting Haru's deep ocean eyes before blushing and leaving. Haru looked almost disappointed to see him leave. It was the first time he had met such a kind individual in the shop.

The next day, Haru was sitting at the same place behind the counter, making some floral arrangements and compositions in silence. He liked the silence. There was no one there to tell him off when he did something he wasn't supposed to, no teenagers walking past with loud obnoxious music on, no annoying customers in. Haru would be the only one handling the shop for a week, as he had received a text from his boss explaining that all of the employees had left for the holidays. But the comfortable  silence was soon broken by the sound of the doorbell, meaning that a customer had come in. When he looked up, his gaze met a familiar set of kind emerald eyes. This time, he wasn't alone. There were two other males with him: another tall one, purple eyes framed by a red pair of glasses, very smart-looking, and a short blonde with pink eyes who looked very hyper and bubbly. Before he could pronounce the usual 'How may I help you?' words, the kind, handsome brunette spoke.
"I just wanted to say thank you for yesterday, she loved the plant. I'm just relieved because she's very picky, yet you knew exactly what to choose. Thank you, sir."
"Just call me Haru." The words came out before he could stop them. That wasn't what you were supposed to say to a customer, but the words were out and there was no way to take them back now.
"Oh well uhm, thank you Haru. You can call me Makoto." Makoto smiled warmly, ignoring the blonde teasing him. "On a first-name basis already? Come on Makoto it's super obvious you like him!"
"Nagisa leave them alone! Come on let's go outside." The blue-haired man pulled his friend back through the door.
"Eheh sorry about that... Don't mind Nagisa, he doesn't mean any harm." Makoto rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"It's fine. I understand." Haru's usually emotionless face softened slightly for a split second, returning to his previous facial expression so fast Makoto thought he'd imagined it.
"JUST ASK HIM OUT ALREADY!" a voice could be heard from outside, indicating that a certain blonde was spying on them. Haru and Makoto both sighed.
"Well... I'll leave you alone now. Thanks again for the help yesterday." The brunette sent a quick glance at the flower composition that Haru was working on. "That looks amazing! You truly are the best at arranging flowers, Haru!"
"Oh uhm."
"Whoops. Well, hope to see you soon!"
And then he was out again, leaving the shop in silence. But this time, it wasn't a comfortable silence like earlier, this time it was an awkward, lonely silence. It was the first time that Haru had felt comfortable in someone's presence, even though it left him with a long flow of thoughts running through his mind. Did that customer really fancy him? Was that why he was so shy? Haru had assumed that his green eyes sparkled that way for everyone. And the raven-haired surprised himself by longing for the other's presence, which only motivated him more to finish arranging the flowers before him.

For the following few days, every time Makoto walked past the flower shop, he waved at Haru from outside, not having any excuse to come in. He had always been curious about the dark-haired male, who seemed emotionless. Makoto knew that he was passionate about flowers, he had seen that when he watched him in secret create colourful, bright flower compositions on several occasions. But after a few days, the brunette mustered his courage and pushed the door opened, welcomed once more by the warm atmosphere bursting with colour. Haru looked up from what he was doing and let out a small smile. He was wondering when the mysterious young man would show up again.
"Hello, how may I help you?"
"Well.. Uhm..  You see, ever since I first met you, I have been attracted to you by your passion for flowers and I wanted to give you this.. I know it is bad and that we don't really know each other , but I spent all evening  working on it and I hope you like it..." Makoto carefully pulled a flower crown made of colourful, fragile flowers, a bright blush decorating his cheeks.
"Attracted to me?" were the only words that escaped Haru's mouth. He didn't know how to reply or react, since it was the first time that someone had handmade something like this especially for him.
"Uhm.. Yes.." Makoto looked away, embarrassed. To his surprise, Haru gently took the flower crown from his hands, examined it closely before setting it on Makoto's head, standing on his tiptoes.
"It's good. It looks good on you." What Haru didn't say, was that he thought the flower crown highlighted Makoto's innocent, precious side.
"Oh uhm, it's not for me, it's for you!" The brunette mumbled before settling it on top of the shorter, raven-haired male instead. "And I think it suits you better. But I wanted to ask you something... It's kind of embarrassing..." Makoto rubbed the back of his neck again, obviously shy and awkward.
"Makoto. Will you go on a date with me?" Haru said bluntly, watching the bara intently.
"A-aaaa you beat me to it! I'd love to Haru-chan!"
"Drop the chan."
