After Harry left things slowed down and I instantly got bored and I instantly slipped into am empty day dream that thoughts of him were laced with. Again I ask my self, what am I doing?! This hungry guy I found sat on the sea front who I offered a breakfast to is now filling my thoughts. I mean I'm a waitress I serve breakfast every morning to tones of different hungry guys but why has Harry stuck in my mind. I took the last order of my shift as Em arrived and set herself up. I delivered the order ticket to Mannie and made my way to the bar where Em was stood alone "hey" she said absentmindedly as she logged into the computer that files stuff and calculates income and all that crap I hate. That's why I leave it for Em to do, unlike me she is brainy and actually likes maths. Beats me why anyone would like maths. Then the realisation I'm off on one in my head and I haven't said hello to my best friend yet hits me "oh hey where's
Jay?" I tie my hair back and release my apron stings from the bow that knotted them together. Em shakes her head and looks at me "no idea" she scoffs whilst shoving a brownie into her mouth. "Probably flirting with some unfortunate girl" I chortle at her comment on Jay's whereabouts because I know she's right. Poor Jay, he spends his whole life trying to pull a pretty girl and he never really succeeds. I decide not to tell Em about Harry just incase I'm kidding myself and I wave my goodbye as I jog to the surfboard hire shop down stairs.
I have my own surf board but the I keep it in the store because it overwhelms my small car. "afternoon boys" I shout as I turn the corner into the shop. "Ah must be twelve Soapy's arrived" the familiar voice of Andy rings above the chatter of various life guards and surf school instructors. Andy runs the store and I think I kissed him once when we were both really drunk but that's not important. "Hey Andy Pandy I've come to get her" I point my arm in the direction of my board that sits at the back of the store. I walk hastily to collect her (the surfboard) and hoist it above my head so to carry her out onto the beach "see ya Andy" I shout "bye Soph it's a good surf today so have fun" I lay my board out and wax up the surface before taking the vacant changing bay and slipping on my wetsuit over my bikini. I threw my bag back into Andy's store, picked up my board under my arm and ran to the waters edge. Andy was right the waves were big today and I paddled through the rough icy water to catch a wave. I rode one all the way back to shore and paddled out again. After about and hour of great waves I was starting to feel the cold and the rain started again so I jogged back to Andy's to stack my board and get changed. That was when I noticed Harry again. He was sat further up the beach alone. I changed my path and went over to him "you're still here then" I shocked him slightly because I wasn't in his vision yet so to him I could have been anyone "oh hey, yeah" he was looking at his fingers again. I pushed my body up onto the rock he was sat on "so it's raining... do you want to come and get hot chocolate with me?" I'm pleasantly surprised at my confidence and I'm even happier when Harry says he'd like to. We jump back down into the sand and Harry follows me to the shop "Andy-Harry-Harry-Andy" I quickly stack my board and get changed whilst briefly introduce the two boys to each other. I grab my bag and peel of my soaking wetsuit from my freezing skin followed by my bikini. I run the towel over my body and violently rub my hair upside down and pull my casual clothes on. As the lock flicks open I push the knotted wood door open and find Harry and Andy talking and getting along. He smiles at me as I fling my canvas bag over my shoulder "ready?" I ask. Harry asks me where we're going and I explain the restaurant I work at is not the only cafe and there's a nicer one just down the promenade. The rain is starting to clear as we open the door to the warm cafe. We take a seat in the window and we scan over the menu before deciding it was two hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows. I also order a brownie for us to share.
"so what brought you here?" I question as I slump back down in my seat. Harry shrugs and looks down at his fingers again "I guess I'd had enough of London" his voice sounded distant and his curls fell over his forehead covering his eyes from me. I reach out and hold one of his hands "well I can show you round and be a friend if you need one" his eyes shoot up as my smaller hand slips into his larger one but he soon relaxes "I'd like that" a beam soon breaks on his face. We finish the hot chocolate and Harry explains that he isn't planning to leave for a while so we needed to find him a job and somewhere to stay other than the hotel. As we walk back to the beach I check my phone and see that I still have 3 hours till my next shift "can I take you somewhere?" I ask and Harry instantly nods and we head for my disintegrating car. Harry's eye brows raise slightly at the sight of my 1970s silver rover "I apologise" shaking my head and hitting the lock with my fist to open the door. We climb in and I start the engine thankfully the first time round and I pull out of the car park "I have no money for anything really so the car comes last" I explain to Harry's laughter "how do you listen to music?" He points to the dash board. I answer by hitting it with my fist much like I did with the lock. The Dixie Chicks blares through my fragile car. I hit the dashboard again cutting out the music "I would turn it down however the volume knob fell off" Harry turns and smiles at me and I can feel my cheeks burning up. I pointed out my house as we drove past on the way to our final destination. When Harry asked me where we were going I told him it was a surprise and when we got to the village we stopped for lunch "so is this where you were taking me?" He asked in a confused tone, I shook my head and climbed back into the car. I struggled to restart it again but after a few tries the car came to life and we were back on our way down the winding streets. "Close your eyes" I tell him as we neared the track "why?" I turned to him "do you trust me?" He nodded and closed his eyes. We turned the final corner surrounded by beautiful flowers and and winding un-kept hedge rows and that was when I saw it "you can open them now" I told him
"wow it's beautiful"
