A Dog's Journey

Chapter 4

I yelped for CJ to wake up. I nudged her over and over again but she didn't move. Soon enough I gave up. That's when I heard a siren and then people came. They took CJ on a wheelie thing then picked me up and handed me to Trent. He had salty tears on his face. I could smell them. Trent took me home with him and I had my own room. But soon there was a knock on the door. "Trent open this door now!". I knew who that was. It was Miranda. Trent went to the door I followed only to be scowled at by Miranda. "Trent why is that dog in here! Miranda I can't believe you!" Trent and Miranda went on and on. I soon fell asleep. I woke up by the sound of Miranda screaming outside. I heard Trent yelling at her. Looks like they went outside. I scratched at the door whimpering for Trent. I heard Miranda yell then a car starting and leaving the rocky driveway. Trent came inside then picked me up and took me to his room. He placed me on the bed and got me some food. "Good dog Chloe" Trent praised me. He petted me over and over again. Until I had to do my business. So Trent took me outside and I found a nice place to squat. Then I went inside and curled up in my bed and drifted into a deep sleep. I woke up by the sound of an alarm. I smelled smoke. I seen Trent was still asleep but he was coughing. I knew I had to get Trent out of here, so I began nudging him over and over again. Until I finally saw his eyes open wide. He grabbed me and began to run. Then I saw a flash and then darkness. Trent screamed in the distance. Then everything went black.
