-Charlie's POV-
I ran up to my apartment as fast as I could. My heart was racing and I was trembling in fear. What have I done? I kept repeating to myself in my head, What have I done?
When I approached my apartment, I went for my keys. But then I remembered - I didn't have my keys. They were in the pocket of my apron for work, which was sitting on the floor of Kalel's bedroom right now. I also didn't have my phone, but I swear that I took that with me.
"Shit..." I mumbled under my breath as I turned to go see the landlord for the spare key he kept. Just then, the door behind me opened. I stopped and closed my eyes, smacking my forehead. Of course this had to happen.
"Well well," I heard his familiar drunken voice say behind me, "Where have you been, Charlie?" His hand gently gripped my shoulders, then tightened and spun me around so that I was facing him, "Huh?" I could smell the alcohol in his heavy and quick breaths - it was disgusting.
"Hunter, I'm sorry, I..."
Before I could finish my apology, he slammed me up against the wall, "You said you'd be home on time! Or at least call me, which you didn't do!" He yelled at me, "And what the fuck are you wearing? That doesn't look like your uniform."
"I was at a party..."
"A party?" He repeated loudly.
"Can you please be quieter?" I inquired softly, "We're not the only people in this building you know..."
"I don't give a fuck about the other people in this building!" He boomed.
"Well can we at least do this in our apartment, not in the fucking hallway?" I inquired. He rolled his eyes and walked back inside. I followed him in, closing the door behind me. I found Hunter pacing back and forth, trying his best to calm down.
"You said you wouldn't be late again," He growled.
"I'm sorry, Hunter!" I yelled, "But you can't keep expecting me to follow your rules all the freaking time."
"My rules?" He argued, stopping in his tracks and starting to approach me, "I don't have any fucking rules except that you come home on time."
"That's a rule!" I argued.
He slapped me across the face, "I do not have rules!"
I clutched my cheek and shot him an evil glare, "I don't even know why I'm still with you!" His jaw dropped, "You're mean to me," I began to rant as my eyes stung, wanting to cry, "You beat this shit out of me for no fucking reason, and I'm living in a shit-hole with a bunch of crack heads and a douchebag who's drunk almost all the time and doesn't give a fuck about me!"
He grabbed me by the throat and slammed me up against the wall for the second time that night, "I do give a fuck about you. That's why I'm still with you. And you underestimate me, Charlie," He croaked, starting to cry a little himself, "But I try. I really do. And I bet no one else you'd ever meet would try like I do." And with that, he lowered me to the ground and walked away.
I slid down the wall and started sobbing into my hands. That's when I heard Hunter's footsteps quiet, and when I looked up I saw him chuck an opened bottle of alcohol at me. I shrieked as I covered my head, hearing and feeling the shattered pieces of glass and whatever was left in it shower over me.
I looked up, my vision blurred because of the tears in my eyes, to see him walk into our bedroom, shutting the door loudly behind him. I just broke down into tears after that. I don't know what I'm doing to myself anymore.
-Anthony's POV-
After Little Black Dress ran inside, I just drove back to my place. But before I got out of the car, I heard something ring. And it wasn't my ring tone. I saw that there was a phone sitting on the passenger's seat. I picked it up and saw there was a text message from someone named Kalel. I slid the "unlock" bar on the iPhone and read the text message:
"Hey Charlie. Where are you? I thought I was taking you back to your place! Text me back as soon as possible. -Kalel"
I raised my eyebrow in confusion and walked inside.
"Anthony, where have you been?" Ian asked me as I walked through the front door, "Everyone wanted to say goodbye to you and you weren't here."
"I drove this girl home," I answered, looking at the phone and seeing if I could find out anymore about this girl.
"What girl?"
"Little Black Dress."
He gave me the most confused look in the world, "Little Black Dress?" He repeated, perplexed.
"Yeah, but I think her name is Charlie," I added, holding out the cell phone to him, "This is her phone. She left it behind in my car."
"And you didn't give it back to her?" Ian asked me.
"I didn't notice until I was here in the driveway."
He chuckled, "Wow, Anthony. Just wow."
"I'll give it to her tomorrow."
*****
I drove back to her place and walked up to the landlord's door and knocked. The door swung open to reveal a somewhat burly man wearing a white tanktop and jeans, a cigarette inbetween his thumb and index finger, "Can I help you?" He asked, blowing the smoke in my face.
I coughed before replying, "I was wondering if you could tell me if a Charlie lives here?"
He heaved a sigh, "I know of a Charlotte. She lives in apartment 22 on the third floor."
"Thanks." I said as I walked to where he directed me. I walked up to the door and knocked. There wasn't any response. I knocked again. This time I heard some movement, but when the door opened, the girl I spent the night with wasn't the one to answer, instead some guy did. He smelled heavily of alcohol.
"What the fuck do you want?" He inquired angrily.
"I...I have Little Black...I mean, Charlie's phone," I said as I held out the cell phone, "I was hoping to give it to her."
He snatched the phone from me and growled, "Why do you have my girlfriend's phone?"
"Girlfriend?" I asked, just as I saw Charlie walk out of her room, her eyes widening in surprise when she saw me.
"Anthony?" She croaked.
