"Gather up with your class! Juniors to the left and Seniors to the right! C'mon people!" Our supervisor yelled, clapping his hands.
I grouped up with my Senior class and started to chat about today's trip.
Today's trip was to an outing to explore the many secrets of the woodland.
What secrets? Probably a pile of deer shit or something.
Based off the story Mr.Himoto told us, the school thought it would be educational to send the Juniors and the Seniors out on an outing.
Why do they take the old bags story so seriously? The hell do I know.
From what others have said, there is apparently ruins similar to the ones in Japan around here.
Instead of wearing something to hike in, I decided to wear something pretty and appropriate for the weather. I wore a matching white skirt and top that had striking designs made of beads and glitter, along with light blue knee-high stockings and white flats. White didn't seem to compliment my brown-red hair, but I liked the outfit!
The air seemed to be crisp and the wind was light. The sun was beating down on everyone, making us sweat even more every step we took. Aside from the beating sun, everyone was in an ecstatic mood to be out of the school.
Before I knew It, my group started to veer to the right, following behind the teacher.
Finally, we're actually moving!
As we started our walk, the teacher started to blurt out or schedule for the day.
"Alright, children! It is currently eight-thirty am! My hopes are that we can stay on task today and possibly find some new things here and there! By nine-thirty I plan to get out of this woodsy area to explore the ruins, then at ten-thirty we would meet up with the other group, and by eleven, we eat lunch!"
"Why can't we just explore the ruins first?" Asked one of the classmates.
"Why should we go strait there when we have a whole forest to explore first?" The teacher said.
None of the students seemed convinced.
Hell, some lame-ass ruins sounds better than the trees!
The teachers expression seemed to turn nervous once he realized none of the students were following his lead.
"I mean, c'mon! The woods is such a beautiful place! There's too many things to explore in time! We'll all have plenty of time to explore the ruins afterwards!" The teacher tried to reason. Still, the students had their minds set on the ruins.
The teacher seemed defeated as he let out a sigh, "to the ruins we go then."
All the students nodded and cheered quietly in victory, although I really just didn't care.
I stood in the very front of my class as the teacher turned us around to the correct path.
The path had much more rough terrain than the smooth and flat one we were just on. Wearing flats today wasn't the brightest idea.
I stumbled on every pebble my foot landed on, and cringed in every puddle I was forced to step in; but despite it all someone was always there to save the princess. Aka, myself.
Up ahead something that looked similar to an Aztec tower peeked up and over the trees.
Students started to chatter about the ruins, the excitement rising in their voices as we got closer. Soon we got to two huge pillars covered in ivy, which is where the teacher stopped us to establish some ground rules.
"Alright! Everyone meet back at these pillars in one hour, that's all you got! No breaking or climbing thinks also! But you may explore! Now go!" The teacher ushered.
Kids bolted into the ruin like fat kids running after an ice-cream truck, but I slowly walked in, observing my surroundings well.
My fake friends most likely ran off to make-out with their boyfriends in secret, but I honestly didn't care. I just wanted to find a nice quiet place to relax and text Ben. Of corse he didn't attend the trip, it was all bullshit in his mind anyways.
Looking around the ruins, the first thing to catch my eye was a towering temple, which the tip almost seemed to touch the sun.
I was tempted to go in, but I figured many others have already gone inside, but who knew?
Making my final decision, I stepped toward the entrance of the temple. Before I could set foot inside, I stopped when a gust of musty air flew to my face. The air seemed to carry an old scent that I couldn't quite describe, but if I had to, I would say two words; dreadful and yet mystifying.
Clearing my throat and delicately setting my foot inside, to my surprise there was hardly no-one around. A couple of kids grouped up in the corner, but that seemed to be all.
I figured that somewhere inside this old place, there was a peaceful area that would either be untouched, or riddled with kids.
Passing by the small group, I went through a doorway that had many designs popping out of its white walls, along with ivy strung out all over it. The temple was old and repulsive, but at the same time it was beautiful and mysterious.
I passed thorough many different rooms, yet they all seemed to be the same as the last. Each had the same white walls with the designs and ivy, each had the gaping holes in the ceiling or in the floor. Despite many of them having nobody there, it just didn't seem like enough for me, it just wasn't perfect.
Soon, my legs started to get tired. I thought of stopping, but when I saw the time I had left, I pushed myself on to keep going.
Would I even find a place to even sit in this dump? Maybe I should just leave-
My thoughts were interrupted when I seemed to of almost fell down a staircase. I gasped as I flung my arms put to keep my balance, and then I stepped back.
That's really kind of weird, I didn't even notice that I was here. I must've lost control of my own feet.
After debating for a moment and looking around, it seemed like the most logical answer would be that I reached the end of the temple, and found this staircase. Deciding to get a closer look, I stood at the edge of the staircase and gazed down, only to be greeted with nothing but darkness as the stairs led to nothing.
The stairs were made of the same stuff the temple was made of, and it seemed to be deteriorating after decades of never being used.
As I stared into the dark abyss, I shiver went down my spine as I thought of what could be down there. So I came to the painful decision of leaving it be, but before I could turn my back, something about those stairs seemed to pick at my head. Something about it made me curious, something about the made me feel like I should be down there.
Slowly grabbing my phone from my pocket, I turned my flashlight on and let it sink it's rays into the clouds of dark below. Quickly gazing around to see if anyone was watching, I then took a step down the stairs, beginning my descent. Dead silence engulfed around me as the light on my back slowly began to disappear, and all that was left was my phone and me. Step after step I took and yet I still could not see the ground below, only more and more stairs.
Cobwebs hit my face every now and then, making me gag and cringe in disgust, but as I was focused of the disgusting surroundings, something caught my eye down below.
A light; more of a glow, actually, seemed to pierce through the darkness. The only thing that seemed off was that the light was a seafoam blue, and was unusually bright.
I let my mind wander as I catiously let my feet guide me down the stairwell, the glow getting brighter and brighter. Before I knew it, the stairs had stopped, and I was met with smooth ground. I looked up and saw that I had stumbled upon a cave, riddled with green-blue crystals sticking from the walls and emitting a glow that filled up the entire area.
Turning my flashlight off, I admired the crystals as I stepped into the cave and gazed about. I let my jaw gape in awe as I felt my eyes sparkle at the beautiful sight around me.
Not paying any attention, I let my feet lead me deeper and deeper into the cave, the supply of glowing crystals never seeming to end.
As I kept walking, I thought maybe it would be a wise idea to take a crystal, as a souvenir!
I got to the smallest and weakest looking crystal I could and wrapped my fingers around it. I gave a mighty yank as I tried to pry the crystal from the wall, but it didn't want to budge. Giving myself a breath and letting my hands cool down, I gave it another try, except that this time I was successful. Holding the glowing relic in my hand, I examined it with a smile.
"See, Skyler? It just takes a little extra 'Umph'!" I praised myself, sticking the crystal in my sock.
Happy with my work, I continued on deeper into the cave as I wondered what I would find next.
Soon, I came to a split in the cave. A tunnel that led to the right, and one that led to the left. I seemed to feel stuck as I thought to myself, but something seemed to pull me toward the left tunnel. I followed what I thought was best and took the left tunnel, but soon found that it was a mistake.
The tunnel seemed to still have crystals, but it was also a dead end. The crystals here glowed a deep blue that seemed to be dull, and the end of the tunnel had absolutely nothing.
Looking at my phone, I found that I no longer had an time to spend in the cave, so I must turn back.
Sighing, I turned around and took a step back to where I came from, but as soon as I did the crystals deep blue started to glow more vibrant and bright. I gasped at first as they all started to flicker in a motion, but the brightest glow seemed to be emitting from behind me.
Pushing myself to turn around, the dead end of the tunnel had something after all.
On the wall was a disk, more like a shield, stuck inside of it. The disk was glowing strange blue patterns on it over and over. One second it was as bright as can be, and the next, no sign of a glow at all.
My mind seemed to be overun with curiosity as the shield mesmerized me with its glowing patterns. I found myself edging closer and closer to the shield, my hand seeming to raise as I went to touch it, and when it did, the cave blew up in a flare of blinding blue light.
I shielded my eyes, but when I reopened them, a portal of swirling blue and purple lights was opened before me. I stood in fear as I gazed at it, but then I started to jump back.
Before I could get away, an armored hand stuck out through the portal and grabbed my arm. Terrified, I let out a scream as I struggled with fear. Another hand cane out and grabbed me by other arm, and soon, two more grabbed me as well. Feeling my body getting weak as my feet sliding, I felt like the was the end.
"I see it has finally begun." An elderly yet familiar voice said.
I stopped screaming and whipped my head back to look behind me.
"M-Mr.Himoto?"
"Yes, yes, it's me." The old man smiled cheerfully, giving a slight bow as a greeting.
"Mr.Himoto, you have to help me! What's happening?!" I begged for help.
Mr.Himoto stifled a laugh, shaking his head.
Taking offense, I snapped. "What are you laughing at?! Can't you see I'm in trouble?! Get your useless ass over here and help me!" I yelled at him, struggling more against the arms.
"Such vulgar language! I would help you, but yet I cannot."
"What do you mean? You've got hands, don't you!?"
"I can't help you until you have learned your lesson, Skyler."
"Lesson? What do you mean, 'lesson'? I'm a strait A student!"
"Wrong lesson you think of."
"My ass!"
"You will learn, child, learn to see people and the world itself as something more, and you will be able to appreciate it as much as others do themselves." Mr.Himoto told me.
"I don't care! I'll learn, just help me!" I begged him, but he didn't seem fazed by my pleas. "Please.....You have to help me." I choked, barely managing to get out the words as tears began to flow.
Mr.Himoto shook his head. "Learn." He simply said.
"You stu-!" I was interrupted as more hand burst through the portal and covered my mouth.
"Remember," Mr.Himoto started, "the Trico likes to eat, appreciate him and he will appreciate you." He told me, then giving a slight smile. "Give to him my regards."
That was the last words I heard from Mr.Himoto as I was pulled into the portal.
After that....I don't remember.....
