I decide to wear flip flops this time. Definitely not killing my feet the way I did last time. Who knows, we might do lots of walking today. Frank picks me up at nine o'clock sharp just as he said. It's only the two of us in his car so I can't help but wonder where everyone else is.
"Where is everyone else?"the words slip out of my mouth before I can stop them.
"They will meet us at Signal Hill. Felix already picked up Jen and Cheng the exchange student."
"Oh ok"
"You can turn on the radio if you would like?" he offers
When I turn on the radio I hear the sound of my favorite band. It's yellow by coldplay. I can't help myself but sing along. I notice as Frank stares and smiles everytime I sing off key, but I don't care. This is my song and I will sing it whichever way I please. When I finish singing the song Frank looks at me with a bright smile and asks.
"So you like Coldplay huh?"
"I LOVE COLDPLAY!" I nearly scream
He laughs at me and continues driving.
"Have you ever been to Signal Hill before?"
"No. But I have seen some pictures."
"The view really is beautiful from up there. I think you'll love it."
"I am sure I will."
The view really is beautiful from up there. You can literally see the entire city and all it's beauty. We have a little picknick on the Hill with the others, then spend the rest of the day driving around town. This place is magnificent. On the left is the ocean and on the right are huge green mountains with fog descended upon them. I see a few houses on the mountains. I can only imagine how lovely it would be to live on the top of the mountains.
Frank's POV
I know I am not supposed to be thinking this way, but there is something beautiful about her. Something that keeps drawing me to her. Since the first day she walked through that door at the café I can't keep my eyes off of her. It's not just that radiance that can't seem to go unnoticed. But it is something more. I can feel it deep down. I just don't know what it is yet...it's so odd. But this isn't right. I attempt to fight my thoughts. So I tear my eyes from her and force myself to focus on the road again. The sun is about to set and I know just the perfect place. Cliffton beach. She will love it there. I mean it's a beautiful place to watch the sun set. What is wrong with me. I am doing this for Cheng not for her. We all arrive at Cliffton beach just in time to watch the sun set.
They watch the sun set but I watch her instead. I watch as this girl that I barely know stares into the deep orange light unable to break my gaze from her face.
"Where is the beer?" Felix breaks me from her spell
"It's right there in the cool box." I reply.
We spend the evening playing 30 seconds on the beach and head home just before midnight.
...
We pull into the driveway of the the luxury house at midnight, after a long day's drive. For some reason I am not tired at all. Driving around with Frank today was amazing. I really enjoyed it. He really does know this place well.
"Thank you for inviting me to join you guys today. I had a good time."
"Don't mention it."
"You would make a good tour guide you know." I tease as I gently tap him on his arm.
"Me?" he laughs
"Yes, you." I smile
"Good night Dalia"
"Good night Frank"
He closes my bedroom door for me. I can hear as his feet move down the stairs and silence as they reach the bottom of the stairs.
I can't seem to sleep so I decide to read a novel.
It's Friday. Which means it's time for me to go to the committee hall and join one of the school clubs. But before i can do that I have to get my weekly schedule to see what classes I have and when. Turns out my classes begin next week Thursday, a day right after orientation ends. There are so many clubs to join. Just by the look of things it seems like there are over 80 different clubs to join. This is crazy. I pass by multiple clubs and receive a dozen fliers, but one group catches my attention.
They wear tight elastic clothes that shape their bodies perfectly. Revealing every bump on their bodies without shame. The music playing in the background is soft and gentle. The two dancers dance so intimately. Their bodies constantly touching and rubbing against it other. They are so compatible as they move rhythmically to the music. Feeling the words of the song as it enters their ears. It is hypnotic. Not only is it hard not to watch but it is hard not to feel what they feel, to move along with the urge in the music.I stand there and watch them nearly all afternoon. My self control too weak to tear myself away from their movements. Before I know it they are done dancing and ready to be on their way. I ask for a flier and make the decision to join this contemporary dancing club immediately.
I feel a vibration in my bag and reach for it. This is not my phone. Oh no! I forgot to give Frank his phone back. I instantly rush back to the upper campus in the hope that he is there. I don't want to look like some creepy girl that stole his phone or something.
When I get to the house I find him on the Sofa watching tv. I rush over to him to return his phone
"Hey Frank, I am so sorry I didn't give you your phone earlier. It totally slipped my mind you left it at my apartment."
I say all too fast without noticing that he has company.
"Sorry I didn't know you had company."
"It's cool. Thanks, I was wondering where i dropped it." he gently laughs
I blush and rush off to the kitchen for a glass of water. I hear the front door close and footsteps approaching.
"Are you ok, you seemed a little nervous a while ago?" smiles Frank
"Yes, I'm fine." I return a weak smile and rush off to my room. That was so embarrassing.
I lay down on my bed and fall asleep immediately. I guess I am more tired than I thought.
