Just Smile

Chapter One

                    The Big Meet
   Alice was sitting with her friends at lunch when she saw a girl with black, thick framed glasses and brown hair in a loose ponytail. The girl had jeans, a grey sweater and a loose Hunger Games shirt on. "Who's that?" Alice said pointing at the girl, now sitting down alone eating a sad looking sandwich from her lunchbox. "That's the new girl. She's in my math class. We had a test and she aced it. She wasn't even here to be taught how to do the problems and stuff." Olivia, Alice's not so smart friend, said astounded by the girl. Alice's eyes went wide with amazement. "And that was a hard test." Alice added, still staring at the girl.
     The girl noticed and Alice looked away quickly. She stood up and walked over to Alice and her friends. "What? You keep staring at me. I didn't do anything wrong...right?" She said unsure of herself. "No, you're fine. I just haven't seen you around here. I figured that you must be new here, if you want I can show you around a little bit?" Alice said with a smirk across her face. "No, it's fine. And I'd wipe that smirk off your face before I wipe it off for you" she said glaring at Alice. "Dang. Didn't expect that from someone like you. I'm Alice. What's your name, newbie?" Alice said. "Callie and what do you mean you didn't expect something like that from someone like me?" Callie said, rage trying to escape from her voice. "Well, I mean. Usually the smarty pants type tend to be more submissive than you. You're different, I like it." Alice said. Callie rolled her eyes and walked back to her seat and ate her lunch all alone.

   The bell rang to go to the next class. I had English next. Thank god, something easy. I walked into the classroom and their was only one seat left. I sat down and to my dismay, the girl from lunch, Alice, sat next to me. To make things worse, this was 5th period. I had this class everyday. I curse under my breath. "Heard that. Didn't think you knew what a curse word was. You've surprised me again." Alice said mockingly. I roll my eyes at her in frustration. "Can you just leave me be for once? I'd really appreciate that." I snapped at her. She looked shocked. "Callie, Callie, Callie. I'm afraid that I can't do that." Alice said with that annoying smirk across her face. I glare at her and say "And why's that? It is because you have some sort of crush on me or because you're too stupid to know how?" She was taken aback by my words. I turn away and get to the English section of my binder that was already falling apart.

  And that was how I met Alice Sparrow.
