Lauren's POV
Today we're going to England doing some promo for the upcoming album, I love England but I really would just rather be in bed back home reading and writing and watching Netflix. Plus it's winter and it's always freezing cold and raining here, and I was not made for cold weather. We arrived in London and were quickly rushed into a series of interviews, the girls and I were starting to get restless; having to answer the same questions combined with jet lag really doesn't make for a great mood. Surprisingly our management took pity on us and actually allowed us to take a few hours break before we had to get changed and head to a chat show later on this evening. The rest of the girls decided to head to the hotel that we were staying at during our stay here to get some sleep, but I figured if I slept now I wouldn't be able to tonight and so decided to do some exploring of the city. I told security and management that I was going to try and take a nap too but managed to sneak out of the hotel, don't get me wrong I love being a singer but the attention that comes with it is so tiring sometimes and when you're trying to avoid attention having a bunch of security guards following you around really doesn't help, and so I thought I would risk it and hopefully survive without security's protection.
My weariness began to catch up with me about 30 minutes into my adventures and so I decided to stop at this cute cafe I spotted on the corner. Walking inside it was packed full of people and I couldn't see any spare seats, ordering a coffee I was about to ask to have it to take out but I spotted the most beautiful girl I've ever seen sitting on a table in the corner. I changed my mind and took the coffee over to her, she was so engrossed in her book she didn't even notice me approaching. But after a few awkward seconds of me trying to find the courage to ask if I could sit with her, she looked up at me and gave me the most welcoming smile I've ever seen, instantly taking my breath away.
I tried to ask if I could sit with her but all I managed to get out was a small stutter, she giggled at my awkwardness, causing me to blush, only increasing my embarrassment.'Hey, would you like to sit?', she asked, her voice somehow cutting through all the noise surrounding us, it was so soft and gentle and all I could manage was a small nod. I'm normally quite comfortable and talkative around new people, but with her I was so anxious to impress for some reason and so I felt too nervous to even attempt a conversation.
'Soooooo, I haven't seen you around before I don't think but I recognise you but I mean like I haven't seen you here before. Which really isn't that surprising seeing as though there's literally thousands of people living in this city, so I mean it's quite unlikely I'd have seen you before in the same place' she said after a few minutes of silence, 'and now I'm rambling and embarrassing myself and making things even more awkward so erm hi please talk so I can stop.' I couldn't help but laugh at her cute outburst it was reassuring to see that she looked almost as nervous as I was and her rambling helped to put me at ease.
'Hi, I'm Lauren and yeah I'm new around here, I'm just visiting from America for a few weeks'
'Ah that would be why' she responded with a grin on her face, 'but I can't help but feel that I may have met you before?' She asked me with her eyebrow slightly raised. I didn't want to tell her about Fifth Harmony, I don't know why, usually I don't mind telling people I'm a singer if they ask but I didn't want her to know about the Lauren Jauregui that's famous, I just wanted her to know about the real Lauren behind all of that for some reason.
'Erm nope, I don't think we have met before, I think I just have one of those faces you know like people seem to recognise me and mistake me for people' I managed to get out after a few seconds, nice one Lauren I'm sure she believes that I thought, mentally slapping myself for my stupidity.
'No I don't think that's it, I'm definitely sure that I have seen no one like you, but maybe it's just in my head, I'd for sure remember a face like yours' she quickly replied not missing a beat, but after a few seconds she realised what she said and a blush crept on to her cheeks, which in turn made me blush again.
'So what are you reading?' I asked attempting to change conversation and also because I was genuinely interested in what she was so fascinated with before I interrupted her.
'Oh it's nothing, just a law textbook I'm studying at university, I'm not really sure what's going on in it though so I was ready to give up soon anyway', so she's beautiful and smart I thought to myself. 'You know I was just about to head out, so if you're over from America maybe I could show you around if you'd like, if you're not busy right now of course?', she asked nervously.
'Yeah! I'd love to' I said a little too enthusiastically '...I mean yeah sure I'm not really too busy I could yeah' I mumbled, again wanting to slap myself because of how eager and desperate I must have sounded, she just giggled again at my response, sending shivers down my spine.
We finished our drinks and headed out into the cold London air, the city seemed more alive with her by my side and when I looked at her beside me she looked like a kid on Christmas morning, so in awe of the bustle of the city around us. I smiled taking in her features, taking a mental picture of this moment that I could treasure forever. It's crazy that I'm saying this about a girl I met less than an hour ago but I felt like how the girls in romantic movies seemed to feel, she made me feel alive when I was literally dead on my feet and exhausted and I felt like I had not just got butterflies but a whole zoo inside my stomach when she looked at me. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard her laughing, 'what are you laughing at?' I asked.
'I don't know' she smiled back at me, 'I'm just happy, today feels like it's going to be a good day Lauren'.
I nodded in response today was going to be a good day, today was already one of the best days ever, because I had met her.
A/N: I noticed a typo and it bothered me so I edited it, I haven't changed anything else, although I'm tempted to cause this is poo and I prefer my more recent ones. Thanks for reading though anyway :)
