Your POV:

I was sitting in a bar waiting for my blind date to arrive. I hadn't really had many dates since I'd broken up with my ex, ever since her I had taken the firm stance that love wasn't meant to last forever. So I wasn't nervous, this girl would either be a one time date or a short fling, I wasn't expecting anything to really come from it. My friend Henry had set me up with a girl who he'd met through dancing or something, I wasn't sure on the details he was being really secretive about it, all I knew was that her name was Lauren and she was 15 minutes late.

Just as I was about to get up and leave a girl came running through the door, she looked flustered but there was no denying how beautiful she was even in her rushed state. I smiled to myself as the waiter showed her over to our table, Henry really did know my type. Lauren was beautiful, she moved with such confidence and grace, and seemed incredibly polite, making small talk with the waiter as they walked. As she got closer I felt the butterflies rising in my stomach, with every step she took towards me they grew. By the time she reached the table it felt like my stomach was doing flip after flip, I'd literally never been so nervous about a date before, and all my annoyance at her being late was quickly forgotten by her stuttered apology.

We sat and talked for the rest of the night, she told me about her family and how she was a passionate advocate for human rights, especially the rights of women and refugees. She told me about her music career and how she was trying to use the platform she had to make a positive change in the world. Her warm and caring personality somehow out shone her beauty; only causing me to become more and more attracted to her as the night went on.

Lauren's POV:
I tried to get out of the blind date that Henry had set me up on. I just wasn't desperate to be in a relationship right now, but once Henry was decided on something there was no budging him. As much as I didn't want to go on the date, I was kind of excited; Henry had not stopped raving about her, her name was y/n, she liked photography, she worked with the New York Times, now she has her own photography company and apparently she was beautiful.

I knew who she was as soon as I entered the restaurant. She was sitting alone, watching the door with a far away look on her face. Henry was not exaggerating her beauty - she'd put any other woman to shame. As her eyes rose to my face I turned my head away, already feeling a pull to her but too nervous to watch her as she took me in. I had never been in an actual relationship with a girl before, I'd only ever gone as far as kissing, but as soon as I saw her I knew all of that was about to change.

Once I reached her I tried to apologise but my words came out all mixed up, luckily she didn't seem to mind that much she just smiled and said it was no problem. Conversation came easily, she asked about how I knew Henry and was interested in me as a person; rather than just my singing career. She listened intently to me rambling on about the government, and what I was interested in and my family.

The end of the night arrived too soon, we'd spent the evening laughing and sharing stories, we were the last ones in the restaurant and they had begun packing up by the time we left. Although I didn't want to leave her, we both had to get up early in the morning and so decided to call it a night, making plans to meet again over the weekend so she could take me to her favourite spot in the city. We walked as slowly as we could to my apartment, deciding against a cab so we could spend more time in each others company. As we reached the entrance to the building, I became nervous and excited at the same time, I wanted to kiss her goodnight but I was so nervous that somehow I'd mess it up and ruin the night. My hands were shaking as I reached to put my keys in the door, opening it before turning around to see her smirking at me and my shaking hands,

'I'll text you later and we can decide when's best for the next date' she told me, choosing to ignore my nerves. Her confirmation of a future date made my face break out into a massive smile, excitement already bubbling inside me, I nodded my head quickly in confirmation but before I could say my good-nights she moved closer to me, slowly pressing her lips against mine. It feels so cliche to admit it but it really was like all of the moments in the films, kissing her felt right, it felt like the start of forever, like the stars had finally aligned. Without any further conversation she turned and walked away with a smile on her face that matched the one on mine. I had only just met her but I knew already that she was the one.
