Chapter 11

HARRYS POV

I sat under the covered porch to the pool house continuously dialing Addies phone hoping she would answer before finally the calls no longer went through. I stood up and made a run for it through the pouring rain to my car in the parking lot. As fast as I could I pulled out and began to drive to her apartment. After driving for about 10 minutes I jumped to my phone ringing. I picked it up hoping it was Addie, but saw a number I didn't know.

"Hello?"

"Harry? It's Aubree um Addies roommate? I'm at the hospital there's been some sort of accident."

"What?" I replied hoping I didn't hear her right.

"I don't know they won't give me any information I just- I think you should be here." She said as her voice began to shake.

"O- Okay I'm coming." I said hanging up. I slowed down and looked out my rear view mirror before turning around as careful as I could in the middle of the road.

When I got to the hospital I parked by the ER and ran inside. I looked around for a minute before looking over and seeing Aubree. I walked over to her and she stood up.

"Harry I..." She started as I just stood there and looked at her. She went in for a hug and I gently put my arms around her. I noticed an older girl sitting next to where Aubree was sitting looking at me. When Aubree pulled away she stood up.

"You must be Harry. I'm Emmalyn- well Emma... Addies sister."

"I uh- Didn't know Addie had a sister." She didn't reply and just nodded her head.

"Do you know anything?" I said continuing.

"She's in surgery right now? Yea uh- apparently another car hit her and she ran off the road."

I stood there trying to hold back my tears not being able to catch my breath. I ran my fingers through my hair and turned around to walk away.

"Harry!" I heard Aubree yell.

"I'm sorry I have to go." I said running through the halls of the hospital.

I wondered around for several minutes before coming across an elevator. Next to it was a door that had an emergency exit sign on it. I slightly opened the door to see stairs. I went inside and climbed all the way to the top until I came to a door. I opened it seeing I was on the roof. I took a deep breath and walked over to the edge resting my elbows on it. I stood there for several minutes before hearing the door open behind me but didn't turn around to see who it was. Someone walked up beside me but i still didn't look over.

"She's gonna be okay. She has to be..." I heard Aubree say. I didn't say anything back.

"She really does love you. I've never seen her like this before... You know I heard you guys talking the other night, whether you meant what you said or not, she did. I really hope you did... Because she loves you." I stared out at the city below us listening to Aubree holding back all my tears.

"She's gonna be okay." She said whispering and walking away.

When she was gone I closed my eyes trying to rid of everything going on in my mind. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes feeling several tears running down my cheeks. I quickly straightened up and wiped my tears away turning around to walk back inside.

I took my time to slowly walk back down to the waiting room where I sat with Aubree and Emma. After trying to get my mind off the situation several times I stared to talk to Emma.

"Why aren't your parents here?"

"They're not around... For her at least... Addie applied to this collage right before she graduated. She didn't get in and decided to take some time off- Well not go at all actually. Our parents didn't really like that, they told her to go to school or get out, so she left. They don't talk anymore. I barley talk to her myself but uh- I dunno..."

"Did you call them?" She replied by lightly shaking her head. No one said anything for the rest of the day which soon turned to night. As I finally started to doze off I was startled by Aubree and Emma standing up. I saw a doctor walking towards them.

"Ms. Beckett?"

"That's me." Emma said leaning forward.

"She's stable for now. She had a lot of eternal injuries and some broken bones, but hopefully she'll be okay. We're going to try to wean her off the ventilator soon to see if she can breath in her own."

"Can we see her?" Aubree said interrupting.

"They're setting her up in the ICU right now. If you'd like you can go wait there and someone will come get you when visitors are allowed."

"Thank you." Emma said practically whispering.

We walked over to the elevator and went up a few floors to the Intensive Care Unit. We waited in a smaller waiting room for only a few minutes before a nurse walked over to us.

"Ms. beckett... I'm sorry only family is allowed right now- we'll let you know when you can come." The nurse said to Aubree and I before taking Emma off to see Addie.

I sat anxiously waiting for the nurse to come back not letting anything process. Before I knew it I was being shaken awake by Aubree with the nurse standing in front of us. I looked over to see Hannah who I recognized from work. The nurse told us we could see Addie and took us to her room.

When we got there I stopped just before the door so I couldn't see in. I let Aubree and Hannah go in first as Emma came out. Her face was red and puffed up, I could tell she had been crying. She faked a smile at me and walked half way down the hall to give us some alone time with Addie I assumed.

I leaned against the wall by the door for several minutes before Hannah and Aubree finally walked out. I took a deep breath and walked in seeing Addison laying unconscious in the hospital bed. Multiple tubes were coming out of her arms and what looked like her stomach and one from her mouth.

I walked over to her and leaned down by the side of her bed then grabbed her hand. I started to try to say something before putting my head down to her hand and bursting into tears. Everything I had been holding in all day was finally being let out, but I still couldn't feel it.

After several minutes I forced myself to calm down and sat up looking at Addie.

"Hey Ads-" I started to say with my voice shaking.

"You've got yourself in a tough situation here huh." I said laughing a little.

"I love you. I really do, I mean it. I don't know what I'd do without you s- So don't just lay here and do nothing you have to fight... Please. I don't know what I'd do without you. I couldn't see that before, but I see it now and-" I wasn't able to hold it in and leaned down continuing to cry.

"Please Addis-" I stopped looking up as I thought I felt her slightly move.

I stared at her hoping she would wake up realizing it was just in my head. I looked down and closed my eyes trying to hold myself back from crying more. I then jumped opening my eyes feeling Addie squeezing my hand with her big brown eyes staring right at me.
