History is my least favorite subject. I've never liked it which is why I always take the higher level class so I can avoid it in college.
Instead of paying attention to Mr. Daybeck's dull lecture, I spend the class jotting down a few notes here and there and watching Lizzy write her detailed notes while decorating the margins with a flower weaving border. I've never seen such neat, detailed notes. If it weren't for her sitting in front of me, my page would be blank. She has down everything and anything the teacher has said.
But there's something else about her, something that makes it hard for me to look away. I don't miss the way she remains quiet and avoids eye contact whenever Daybeck asks a question, or the way she sinks in her chair and lays her head on her desk while she continuously moves her pencil across her page. She's shy, but not too shy. She talked to me easily in the hall this morning, even though she was a little awkward, and that's something that no girl I've ever met has been able to do. They either avoid me, constantly blush and flirt, or do everything but strip in front of me.
From what I can tell though, Lizzy's not like those girls. She's more of a loner with some friends here and there, and she's a girl I want to get to know. She's a girl who everybody seems to see, but no one gets to know. The question is, why?
She dresses nice, at least today she is, and she has big brown eyes to match her long, dark, curly hair to contrast her rosy pale skin. Every guy we passed in the hallway notices her, but she doesn't notice them. I want to know what goes on in that pretty little head of hers... And I can't figure out why I want to know.
