Cassandra's P.O.V.

I leaned against the railing of the indoor balcony in my house, looking out at all the drunken, dancing people. A scowl had taken over my features many hours ago when my parents called in before their sudden flight home. As soon as I got the call, I knew something was up, they never call randomly. The only times they speak to me is my holidays, my birthday, and when they got a call from the principle or the cops about my behavior.

When the call had come in, I picked up immediately, expecting to hear Jace, my boyfriend. But when I said hello, the voice that replied was not what I'd hoped for.

A lot of people know my parents for their fame and fortune from their practice as lawyers. They're the greatest team in the world. They can twist even the most gruesome story to make someone look innocent. I would be proud of the empire they built if they weren't terrible people. I used to want to follow in their footsteps back before I realized they lied for a living and they did it with ease. I know I'm not the greatest person on earth, but I don't put innocent people behind bars for a living. After I found that out, I stopped caring about them and what they do. To be honest with you, I'm not 100% certain what they do aside from just being lawyers. I stopped asking where they went and what their cases were about a long time ago.

With that being said, they're never home and I rarely see them or talk to them. Hearing my father's voice over the telephone line was a shock.

"Cassandra, I've got some great news!" My father exclaimed to me through the device.

"Uh, what might that be?" I could feel myself getting more nervous with every second the conversation was going on.

"We're moving!" He yelled. His excitement overflowed in his words.

"Congrats on your move, but why are you telling me this?" And then it clicked. We mean't me.

"Silly girl, you're moving with us, just a few states over, no big deal. We'll be home tomorrow to have people pack everything. We'll finally leave that small house in the middle of nowhere for a much better place!" With that, I hung up on him. No goodbye, no nothing. I didn't want to hear it. I've lived here all my life, I can't leave now.

I don't understand. I already live in a mansion in a big town. Why are we leaving?

While my parents built their nation wide empire, I had built my city wide empire. I was practically a king here and no king wants to give up their subjects.

I snapped back to the current moment in time. Sweaty bodies moving in sync to the tune of the song. The beat echoed around the house and reverberated through my very bones. I took in the smell of alcohol, the sound of laughter, the moans that came from the bedrooms. It was my habitat and I was about to be removed from it.

I knew I didn't have much time left to consider my options. So I staged my final rebellion in this town, the biggest party I'd ever thrown. If I trashed the place badly enough, my parents would be pissed and they'd be able to feel the anger that pulsed through me.

I felt Macey's presence at my side before I heard her words, "Everyone has been commenting on your sullen expression." She announces. Well I wasn't hiding my emotions, so I don't doubt they're wondering what's wrong with me.

"And your point is?" I shoot her an annoyed look. Macey turns her head to meet my eyes. I get a good look at her short figure. Blonde curls come down around her shoulders, shes got a slutty red dress on and her face is caked with makeup. I'd give her a B+, standing for above average female dog. I've hated her for a long time despite the fact that I hang around her constantly. I surround myself with people who are valued. In other words, if you can't tell, I'm extremely shallow. I don't give a damn anymore though.
