Lie # 07: Cornered

We watch them as they continue to record their new song; they were actually good that I've been thinking why I wasn't interested in them in the first place. All of them were too busy; Madi and I decided to catch up with each other for the years we spend apart. Even though we talk through the phone or video calls, it's still more meaningful and exciting when you tell stories personally.

"Seriously, I haven't heard from him since the last time we were all together, and we were still young back then." Madi continued to reminisce our memories.

"That's true, it's like we lost contact with him when he's just there in Korea." We both laugh as we talk about another childhood friend of ours.

"I hope we can meet him again." I told her which she nodded in response.

"You went to the washroom earlier with Xander, right?" Biglang sabi ni Madi kaya tumango ako sa kanya, "Can you accompany me there?" She asked me and I nodded at her.

I looked up at the boy and tried to catch Thunder's attention, when he looked up at me, I gestured that we're going out and he nodded in approval.

"Let's go." I told Madi and both of us stood up from our seats and walked out of the room.

"Is there really nothing going on between you and Xander?" Tinanong ako ni Madi ng makarating kami sa washroom.

Pumasok s'ya sa loob ng isang cubicle habang ako naman ay humarap sa salamin at inayos ang buhok ko, "Wala naman." Sagot ko sa tanong n'ya.

"Talaga?" Tanong nitong muli, halata mong hindi naniniwala.

Narinig ko ang flash ng toilet at ang pagbubukas ng lock ng cubicle kaya tiningnan ko si Madi mula sa salamin, "Wala talaga. Ang totoo n'yan, sinusubukan lang namin na kilalanin ang isa't isa dahil sa kapatid n'ya." Pagpapaliwanag ko sa kanya ng makalapit s'ya sa lababo para maghugas ng mga kamay n'ya.

Tumango naman ito at tsaka isinara ang gripo ang tsaka humingi sa akin ng tissue na nasa gilid ko lamang. Inabutan ko s'ya at hinarap n'ya ako habang nagpupunas ito ng kamay, "Sa totoo lang, nung nakita ko kayong dalawa kanina, ang cute n'yong tingnan."

"Paano naman kami naging cute?" Takang tanong ko sa kanya at sumandal ako sa lababo, habang si Madi naman ay humarap muli sa salamin para magretouch ng make-up n'ya.

"Parang ang bilis mo nag-open up sa kanya. Hindi ka kasi ganyan, kambal." I blinked at her, not only did she call me with our pet name; what she actually said was true. "Takot ka sa tao, kambal."

Which is true, that's why I only have a few trusted friends. A few of them were because of family connections; the others were because we have a common friend.

"Hindi ko alam, siguro, sabihin na natin na magaan ang loob ko sa kanya?" I answered, unsure. "Siguro dahil kilala ko ang kapatid n'ya, at nakilala na s'ya ni kuya Gian."

Tumango naman si Madi, nakatingin pa din sa salamin, ngayon ay chinecheck n'ya if okay na yung nilagay n'yang lipstick. Ng matapos ng magretouch itong si Madi, lumabas na kami ng washroom at naglakad pabalik sa recording room.

Bubuksan na sana namin ang pintuan ng bigla itong bumukas at isang lalaki na naka-hoodie at shades ang lumabas dito.

Suddenly, I felt a sense of déjà vu, like I've seen him somewhere, or maybe I've dreamt of someone looking like this. I don't know.

Napakurap ako sa kanya, kaya naman ibinaba nito ang hoodie na suot nito at tinanggal ang salamin na suot nito, revealing Thunder's face, "Perfect timing, hahanapin pa sana kita." Agad na sabi nito.
