Treat You Better // s.m

Chapter 7

*Lainey's POV*
I woke up to the feeling of empty sheets on the opposite sides of the bed. Only to realize that it's Monday, and it's time to go back to school. I sighed knowing that I'd have to face the two people that I despise the most, but I know that my best friend will be there with me through it. I decided to finally get up for the day. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and put my contacts in. Then, I applied some mascara and curled them. Afterwards, I walked into my closet and got dressed in a simple pair of jeans with a blue blouse and black flats. I threw my hair up into a quick and simple bun. As soon as I finished, it was time for me to head out. So I grabbed my keys and my bag, and walked next door to Shawn's house. Just as I was about to walk in, he walked out.

"Hey you. How're you feeling today?" Shawn asked with concern.

"I'm doing okay. I just need to steer clear of both of them today." I sighed. I couldn't deal with seeing either of those traitors today. Shawn pulled me in for a hug.

"Come on, let's go get this day over with." I said. We headed to Shawn's car, and we were off to school.

*Shawn's POV*
I hated seeing her like this. Seeing her heartbroken and sad, it angered me. She doesn't deserve this. She doesn't deserve to be treated like this and she sure as hell doesn't deserve to be cheated on. As we were on our way to school, Little Things by One Direction came on and she immediately started to tear up. She was so broken. So hurt, and there wasn't a thing that I could do but be there for her.

We finally pulled up to the school parking lot, and I saw Lainey freeze in the corner of my eye. She saw the so-called boyfriend that loved her. She started to shake and cry.

"Are you okay, Lainey?" I asked.

*Lainey's POV*
"Are you okay, Lainey?" Shawn asked. What kind of question was that? I'm looking at the guy that broke my heart and I don't know what to do. I just sat there frozen. I couldn't speak, and I didn't know what to think. Shawn looked at me with concern, and I just started to cry.

"Come here." Shawn said. He pulled me in for a hug and cooed me until I calmed down.

"Shh. Shh. It's okay." All I could do was sob and cry like a baby.

"Come on, let's go get this day over with." I shook my head up and down. I brushed up my mascara and wiped my face clean of the running mess. I looked at Shawn and mouth "thank you" to him. He smiled and and hugged me one last time before we got out of the car, and walked into school.
