I opened my eyes, and looked around. I'm in my bedroom, I thought.

"Richard, honey, she's alright. Wait! She's waking up! Honey, I will call you later, I have to tend to my baby right now. Ok, I love you to honey." she hung up and started calling out my name.

"Nat, are you alright baby? What happened to you out there? You gave me quite a scare. Don't you ever go through those woods again, who knows who's in there." she said while giving me a look of relief.

I wanted to say something in reply, but all that came out of my mouth were the opposite.

"Where is Hale?" I asked.

"Oh! That sweet boy? He is in the kitchen; I just prepared him a nice dinner. He carried you through the woods and drove you home. But everything is alright baby, just relax now, I made you my famous chicken soup. You know how that stuff always made you feel better when you got sick or felt bad."

"I know Lin, thank you. Can I speak to Hale for a moment? I want to thank him, you know?" I looked at her with beg full eyes. She nodded and left the room.

After about a minute later, Hale stepped in.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" he said coming in slowly and sitting across the room on my dresser chair.

"Better now, how did you know where I was?" I looked at him with despair. I mean, he had to have followed me.

"I... I heard screaming. My window was open, and it sounded like you." he looked away, and got up from his chair and sat beside my bed and took my hand. I looked down at our hands, he put his on top of mine, like I was so fragile. I looked back into his eyes; they were the prettiest green you could imagine. The light from my window reflected off his eyes, giving him the slightest of blue.

Then I zapped back to reality and started to get angry.

"How could you have heard me, I didn't scream anyways." I tore from his gaze looking at our hands again, he took his hand off of mine, and my hand felt cold.

"Okay, then, I followed you, I needed to talk to you." he said. I relaxed and I grabbed one of his hands. They felt so warm in mine. Why did I feel so comfortable around him?

"Well then, what did you have to say that was just so important that you had to stalk me?" I asked sarcastically. Why did I say it sarcastically? Maybe my tiredness or hormones, who knows. He looked away. Great, I made him feel bad.

"I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to sound mean. I'm probably just tired." I looked away. I felt something on my face. I looked back towards him, and he had his hand on his face.

"I really need to talk to you, but for now I well let you go back to sleep." he took his hand off my face, and grabbed my other hand and intertwined his fingers with mine. My heart started racing.

"I don't want to sleep any more. I need answers, I mean, you were in my dream, not too long, ago, and now that I actually met you, we really need to talk now."

"Okay. You asked for it." he winked and everything in time, stopped.

I looked around. Everything outside paused, birds in flight stuck in air. Butterflies not moving from plants. Everything stopped. Time stopped.

"What is going on?" I practically yelled.

"You wanted an answer and I'm gonna give it to you. I just don't want anybody listening in." he said smiling.

"And you had to pause time, you just couldn't go to like a more private place?" I asked, I was growing more and more confused by the second. "How about this, I, just listen, and maybe ask questions, and you explain everything. Ok?" I said with a little emphasis.

Hale chuckled and nodded.

"Well everything started with the civil war," Civil war? This day cannot get any stranger. "We met at seventeen, and I was about to go out to war. Before I left, we got married, and you wanted something more than just a marriage, you wanted an eternal bond. I thought about it, and thought it was also a very good idea. We went to this 'witch' and we asked if she could give us an eternal bond. She told us, that we could, but had to pay her in return. Of course she wanted money. She named her price, and I was lucky. The money I saved up to buy you a ring, was the same amount. On the night I was going to pay her, you forgot you were cooking dinner and a fire started. When I just finished paying the witch, she told me, that we would be soul mates forever, even in the next generations to come. I was so happy, no matter what would happen to us, we would always be together in our next lives, and for forever. I saw a faint glow coming from the direction I was headed. I heard people shouting, so I started to run. I noticed the glow was a fire, and it was coming from our house. I started to run. By the time I got their the house was almost gone. I was depressed for months. But the only thing that kept me going was the eternal bond. I died of old age, and when I was born into this generation, I started to get visions in my dreams about my past. Everything came back. And that's when I realized I could do different things that people couldn't."
