Dan took a bite from the roast chicken on his plate. He had to get out of this miserable place. He didn't want to spend eternity here, surely he would go insane. But what could he do? He was the devil, and everyone would notice if he were gone. He though long and hard about this for the next couple days. One day, he thought to himself,
"What if someone else were to do my job?"
He began to search for someone. He decided to ask his cousin. He found her in the castle one day as she was heading to her room.
"Lea! Hey! I need to talk to you."
"What is it Dan? Is it important?"
"It is very important. I want you to take over for me."
"Take over what for you? You want me to divot for you so you can take a break?"
"No, I want you to take my job."
Lea gasped. It had always been her dream. She had always been jealous of Dan.
"I would love to! But why?"
"I don't want to do this anymore, I can't stand it. I am so lonely here, but you have friends. I think you would be much better suited to the job."
Lea hugged Dan as she thanked him. Dan said a few words, and gave away his horns and wings to Lea. He was finally free from this hell (literally). He went to his room in the highest tower, and packed his things. He double checked to make sure he did not forget anything, and was ready to leave. Where he would go? He was not sure. It had always been his dream to see middle world, but now hat he finally could, he was afraid. He descended the grand stairs, and walked out the castle door. It was a long trip to the middle world, but he would make it.
