Chapter 12 -

Clary Pov

Dim sunshine shimmered through the blinds on the window, creating a lighter atmosphere, unlike the mood I was in. It was probably about five in the morning. Harry's head was shoved into the crook into my neck and his arm was slung over me. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood to cuddle. Last night I was upset and a bit crushed that Harry's fans would say things like that about me. Today, i'm pissed off. Not at the fans, but at myself. How could I be so thoughtless. I let all of the boys see me break. I let them see me cry. How could I have let myself feel that much. I didn't normally take things like that so personally. I looked down at the runes I had on my arms. I hadn't trained in days and it showed. I only had about six that were still there.

I maneuvered my body out of Harry's arms and off the bed. After taking a quick shower, I pulled on some hunting hear. I needed to do some actual hunting, considering the last time I came across one of the bastards was when I had just met the boys. I put on a thigh sheathe and slipped a dagger into it, along with another one onto my belt. Red curls fell hung down my shoulder in a loose pony-tail. Quietly, I pulled on my boots and slipped on my black hoodie. I jogged down to the basement to get my backpack full of extra weapons and slipped it on after taking out my stele and drawing a glamour rune on my hip. Putting the stele back into a secure position, I jogged quietly back up the stairs and walked out the door.

After about 30 minutes, I was beginning to lose hope of finding a demon. I sighed and scratched my head, turning around to look for a promising hiding spot for them. My sensor wasn't being any help. It hadn't gone off at all yet. I walked for another hour until I finally heard a fast beeping sound. I pulled out my seraph blade and allowed my whip to slink down my wrist.

I approached the same creepy park I had ran to when Jace had first contacted me. As I got closer to the swing set, the beeping got more erratic and loud. I looked around in confusion but didn't see anything. My shoulders slumped and let out a huff. Maybe the sensor was broken?

The minute I let my guard down I felt a strong force hit me from behind. I let out a yelp as my body fell onto the swing and I fell onto my back. A greater demon stood above me, giving me a sinister sneer. I heaved myself up and faced it. Without thinking twice, I ran towards it full speed, seraph blade tucked into my fist.

---5 minutes later---

The swing I sat on swayed gently back and forth. My legs dangled loosely onto the ground as I stared down at my hands. They were covered in the demon's blood, along with some of mine. I hadn't seen that much red in a while. In a way, I liked it. It felt good to do something normal.

Normal. What an odd word to describe killing something. But it was true. A little over a month ago, killing demons was normal. I hadn't been looking over my shoulder to check if a member of my crazed family was following me. Back then, I hadn't thought that the guy I loved would turn out to be my greatest enemy. That proved to be my downfall. Now, everything was different. Nothing was normal. I felt safe and happy. I felt care-free and I wasn't stressed out. I felt loved again.

I looked from my hands to my stomach. My entire upper-half had been pretty torn up. I had cuts all over my arms and stomach and will most likely be covered in bruises later. I sat up from the swing and groaned at the fresh pain in my legs but began the walk home anyway.

Harry Pov

When my eyes finally cracked open, I felt the other side of the bed to find it empty. My eyes shot open completely and I sat up. Clary was gone. I looked over at the clock by my bed and checked the time. Damn, I over slept. It was passed noon. I pushed the covers off of my legs and got out of bed. There was an unfamiliar pile of clothes on the floor so I walked over to pick them up. My heart sank to my stomach as I felt the unnatural weight of them. A small gasp escaped my lips as a few drops of blood dripped onto the floor from the shirt. That was when I noticed. Both the pants and the shirt were completely soaked in blood. There was a few smeared red footprints on the floor that traveled out of the bedroom door. I dropped them and frantically ran to the bathroom, following the feint trail of blood. I didn't even knock. I burst through the door. Her eyes widened and she quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself.
