This not only generates the month and day of a birthday (no year), it also generates the time—hour and minute—in military time. If you don't know how to read military time, I'll explain that.

The military clock is based on twenty-four hours as there are twelve hours in the AM half as well as PM half, but the minutes stay the same. That means 01:00 AM to 12:59 PM stay the same as the normal display, and 01:00 PM to 12:59 AM will be different. The hours after 12 PM will just be added. So 01:00 PM becomes 13:00, 02:00 PM becomes 14:00, 10:00 PM becomes 22:00, and on and on until we reach midnight. Can you guess how that would be displayed in military time? If you said 24:00, you would be wrong. Once it reaches midnight, the hour starts over to 00, so 12:00 AM would be 00:00, and 12:59 AM would be 00:59. There is no twenty-fourth hour, just zero to twenty-three.

You can use the month and day for anything. You don't need to use it just for a character's birthday. You can also use it for the day of their death.
