MACK POV-
*2 am-
"AAHHHHH"
I wake up like I do every other night, drenched in sweat and losing my mind. Panting like a maniac, I look around my room and realize I am safe.
I get up to get a glass of water to calm my nerves and my shaking body and am startled when my dog comes in my room, nudging the door open. He jumps on the bed right when I stand.
"Come on Rosko, come on boy" my tired raspy voice calls for him. I pat my thigh and glance down at the hideous scar so he can follow me and protect me in case of any intruders.
The tapping of his paws sounds throughout my apartment as I walk along the cold wood floor, reminding myself to get a pair of slippers.
I stare at the clock as I pour water into my glass and mentally curse because this is the third time this week I wake up from the dream. The counselor said they would come back sooner or later I just didn't think so soon.
I gulp down the rest of my water as I stare through the huge glass window wall. The New York streets are shining bright and the view is absolutely stunning as always. Even if this is my thousandth time looking down at the city lights I still cant get enough of it.
I drag myself across the room to my wall of books and pick out one of my favorites, Frankenstein. Yes it sounds extremely weird that that book would be my favorite, but if you knew me well enough you would see that as completely normal.
Of course I love other classics, Pride and Predjudice, Romeo and Juliet, A Tale of Two Cities, and so on. Its just that this book is the only one I can relate to. Yeah its about a monster coming back from the dead, exactly my point.
My dark waves brush off my shoulder as I turn my head to see my loving companion. Rosko looks up at me with adoring eyes as I stare straight into his dark aqua eyes. He gets up and rests his head on my thigh as I sit on the window seat.
I smile at the comforting feeling he radiates. Rosko is the only caring thing I have in my life. Hes basically like a brother except he's a black lab.
I open up the marked pages and reach for the highlighter on my coffee table. I already have most of the page colored in my notes.
As soon as I get sucked in to marking my pages. I see Rosko lift his ears up in an alarming manner. I follow his lead and lift myself up and pad my feet to the door and hear shouting.
HARRY POV-
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! NO NOT THIS TIME FUCK YOU AND ALL THIS SHIT!!"
"I think your forgetting one thing." My patience for this boy is diminishing by the second.
"What the hell would that be." he screams again making my stress level even higher.
"I've got a little someone, that needs this machine to help her breath or even live for that matter without the support of this machine." I speak through a satisfying grin, knowing I'm getting to him.
"No, no, no stop. STOP! ALL YOU DO IS FUCKING TERRORIZE PEOPLE! WE HAD A DEAL!!"
"That's where your wrong. Now that the deal seems to have been broken I guess you can no longer be of assistance to us, but hey it was nice to see you again Johnny or was it Joey." I quickly pull out my gun and watch the bullet pound through his skin and to his heart.
"Paul clean this up for me. I need to tell Boss how I've decided to end things with his client." I order the husky man
Dammit now Boss is going to make sure I get the rest of his business hush hush, but everyone in this town should know that this crew isn't some playground shit.
My head is literally pounding from all the shit I have to do when I get back to the cove. That fucking barking isn't making it any better either.
Either I need to go up there and shut that dog up or at least tell the manager of this god damn place.
The apartment spaces are a great place to deal with business but people live here and it just always has to be at the back of your mind that people can probably hear you "handling" your business.
MACK POV-
I hear the ringing of a gun being fired and hold my breath. Rosko starts barking like a wild animal and I start to panic because what if those people come up here and put Rosko and I in harms way.
I rush away from the door and end up tripping on my boots laid out on the floor and fall back on the floor. While my arm hits the coffee table and knocks down a plate and a cup of tea.
"Damnit" I quickly get up and examine the area looking at the glass shattered on the dark cherry wood.
My body freezes as I hear a knock at the door.
This can't be happening I though I was safe here. My palms start to sweat and my body trembles with fear.
"Hello?"
I hear a voice through the door. I breath heavily in and out calming myself.
"Coming." I croak out. My shaking hand grabs the handle and twists it with a force of confidence suddenly sweeping over.
"Hi can I help you?" I take in the appearance of a tall man with a lot of muscle wearing a leather jacket.
He looks tough but his eyes could beg to differ.
I need to stop reading people, just a habit of mine I'm trying to get over.
"Hi I just heard barking and then I heard glass shatter. Just wanted to see if everything was fine."
