Both of the boys have been friends for a very long time. So when Yamaguchi began to get his sudden bursts of sadness it was only natural for Tsukishima to be considered.
One night Yamaguchi tries to end his life but Tsukishima stopped him.
At that moment Kei realises why he's cared so much before and why he cares so much now.
He was in love and couldn't stop it, he always had been but didn't know it.
