Local High Schooler Found Dead

Student at Ben Franklin High School, Magdelyn Jeon, was found dead Saturday morning in an alley off of 4th Street. Her autopsy showed cause of death to be suffocation, but Baltimore PD suspect her to have been drugged or highly intoxicated, as she showed no signs of a struggle. Her fellow classmates Geo and Clark Smith have confessed to the crime after her shoes from the night were found in Clark’s truck. Magdelyn Jeon had attended a party earlier Friday night with Geo Smith, and other party goers say they saw Geo spike her drink early in the night. When Magdelyn asked to be brought home, Geo texted her brother, Clark Smith, the sentence, “She’s ready now.” No motive has been discovered, yet. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday at 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.; the burial ceremony will be held on Thursday at 7:00 P.M.

Tae locked his phone on the article, his heart beating faster and tears falling down his face. He had truly lost her, and there was no way she would come back. They used her recent school picture, and Tae couldn’t help but notice how innocent she looked. It had been months, yet he still read the article everyday, still as heartbroken as the first time. He would never be able to hold her, never be able to kiss her, never be able to heart her voice or read her texts. There were so many Nevers that belonged to a girl who he had known for 6 months.

Despite all his Nevers, hers were worse. She would never be able to finish her life, never be able to finish high school, never be able to see what an impact she left on people.

Her grandmother hadn’t gone in her room since she was told the horrid news. All of Maggie’s things still sat in their exact place, gathering dust and sitting still. Her laptop was still at full battery, as it was never unplugged. It ran up the energy bill like crazy, but her grandmother never complained. It gave her peace of mind that Maggie was once truly real.

At school, Maggie’s locker turned into a shrine. Any picture someone had with Maggie in it was taped to her locker, her books still inside in their book cover.

But worst of all, 5 days after her death, a letter came in the mail for her. A letter containing the information that she had been accepted into UCLA with a full ride.

Her life was cut short, too short.

And there wasn’t a thing Tae could do about it.
