'Mate' I whispered. My head was spinning and it definitely made it worse realizing that I could have my mate reject me. I was just a no body on this land. No one here wants me. I am just another passerby. A million thoughts were running through my head and I just wanted it all to stop. Wanting to escape the possibility of rejection, I slowly got out of the cot that they had laid me on and stood on to my feet. My balance was off because of my weak state and I was about to greet the floor. My hands started to grab everything in the process to keep me from falling, but nothing was heavy enough to resist the impact.

Giving up, I closed my eyes waited for my body to make contact with the floor, but nothing came. I slowly opened my eyes and there I was in the arms of my mate holding me close to his chest.

"You can always count on me when you're in trouble," he whispered against my ear. He gently picked me up and sat me down back on the cot and stood in between my legs.

"Wanna tell me your name, love?" His voice sounded so pure and deep I felt like I was dreaming. "Well ok I guess not,” he said when I didn’t respond. “Then do you want to tell me why you're in the Grey Lake Territory?" My eyes shot out of me. The Grey Lake Territory. This territory is one of the most powerful territories that existed in the world. I felt like I was about to faint. "No? Ok well my name is Ryder Daniels and I am the alpha of this pack. Just so you know I do anything that I have to do to keep this pack from harm. So love, I need you to cooperate with me ok?" he asked gently.

I slowly nodded waiting for my punishment, but it never came. "Don't be scared I'm not going to hurt you. No type of harm or danger will come upon you. Ok? I just need you to tell me your name and what caused you to run all the way over here. I haven’t seen you in the area so I am assuming that you are a far ways from home." He said. His voice sounded like pure gold. So if gold could even talk then that's what it would sound like. I slowly nodded my head, just now realizing how dry my mouth was and how bad my throat was burning.

"M-my name is Audrey." I said, but it only came out in a soft whisper. "I come from the Shadow Ranch territory and I don't have much experience crossing through other boarders. This would be my first time out of my territory. I came here because I was running in the forest of my territory and a bunch of rogues came and started running after me. They were chasing me. I didn't know what to do, so I just ran,” I rambled on and on. “…so I guess I ran all the way over here and didn’t realize how far I distanced myself from my own pack." I said, listening to my throat croak the whole time I explained myself.

"Ok thank you for telling me, Audrey. Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?" I didn’t realize how hungry I was until now, but I shook my head to tell him that I did not want anything to eat. What? I am not going to just invite myself into this pack and stuff my face. This is not my home and it never will be.

He stared at my emotionless expression for a minute and finally said, “Yes you are. Don’t be shy. This is your home as much as your own territory back at your pack house is. So let’s try this again shall we? How about we go down to the dining room and get something to eat. Sound good?” I kept quite for a minute, and then I slowly nodded my head as I continued to stare at the white and black tiles.

He smirked and slowly picked me up and carried me all the way down the stairs and into the dining room. When we got to the door of the dining room he set me down on my feet and grabbed my hand as we walked into the room. Walking in, there were already people sitting around the table conversing. The moment I entered everyone stopped talking and stared at me. I looked at everyone’s faces and they looked like they just saw a ghost. As I passed by each of them I tried listening to what they were whispering about. “She’s the Luna!” “Alpha Ryder finally found her” “It is about time he found her.” My mind was racing through what they were talking about and I couldn’t gather my thoughts as we walked to the front of the table. I looked around and saw only one seat remaining. I had to think quickly. Where was I going to sit? I can’t make a fool of myself in front of all these people that I don’t even know. Come one Audrey think, think! When we got to the front of the table, Ryder sat down on the last available chair and I just stood next to him thinking about just running out. Right as I was about to walk out of the room, Ryder pulled me to him and sat me down on his lap. A few of the younger girls gasped when he did this. They were obviously just teenage girls crushing on Ryder. I mean who wouldn’t? He is beyond gorgeous. Failing to keep the thought coming into my head, I thought of the girls in this room Ryder could have been with. I mean was he a player and was I just going to be another one of the “girls” he dates or am I going to be something special to him? I sat there for a few minutes thinking about the possibilities that Ryder could cheat on me. On his mate, would he do that to me? Staring into space, I didn’t realize that a plate of food had been placed before me until Ryder said, "Baby, stop thinking and just eat."

The food was delicious and mouth watering. By the time I was full, I hadn’t realized that I finished my entire plate. I remained seated on Ryder’s lap trying to keep myself from moving too much. I waited for everyone to finish their food and listened into everyone’s conversations, but I stayed silent. Obviously because I didn’t know anyone and I am usually not a talkative person. Even back with my pack members, I try to talk less and listen to people more. As everyone was finishing up, I stood up and grabbed my plate to take it into the kitchen, but when I was about to take my plate a woman about my age grabbed it and took it into the kitchen for me. I stood there for a minute waiting for the woman to walk back out so I can thank her for taking my plate. Back at my house, the rule was for every person to take only their plate to the sink. So I was definitely new to having other people take my stuff without my asking. When the lady walked back out, I walked up to her and said, “Thank you for taking my plate for me.” She turned around from gathering more plates at the table and smiled.

“Oh it’s no problem! It is very nice to meet a friend of Ryder’s. My name is Cassandra, but everyone here just calls me Cassie.” She held out her hand in front of her for me to shake it. I extended my hand and shook it. “My name is Audrey. It is nice to meet you.”

Ryder came around my back and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Thank you Cass,” he said and she nodded and walked away. He then turned me around to face him and he asked, “how about we go back upstairs and lets say watch a movie? He lifted his right brow waiting for me to answer and I just briefly nodded my head. We walked to the very back of the pack house and up the shiny marble stairs up to the third floor. When we got up to the floor, he grabbed my arm and turned me to face him once again. I tried my very best to not push him back. I am one the type of person who does not like to be touched or grabbed, but I really did not want to show him disrespect. I looked into his eyes and waited for him to talk. After a few seconds of just staring at me he questioned, "Do you trust me?"  I wanted to trust him, but I barely knew this guy. I am not very big on letting people in so trust was very rare for me. I trust only a few people back with my pack members, but will he be hurt if I said no? I have to trust him; he is my mate. Plus if he tries to hurt me, I can just defend myself. Maybe the hours of training my dad, the Alpha of the Shadow Ranch Territory, might have been worth it after all.  He is my mate, why should I not trust him? With that we walked down the hall and entered into the second door on the left. We walked into the room and took in my surroundings looking at every piece of furniture either black brown or white. The walls were a soft cream brown, the carpet was black, and the bed was a mix of black and white. I looked to the right and saw a big brown door which I think must have to be the en suite.

I looked back around the room and saw Ryder in the back corner of the room in front of a big, musky brown colored shelf. He stood there for a few minutes with a few movies in his hand. After a long moment of selecting a movie; he walks to me with my all time favorite movie, “The Breakfast Club.”

“Is this movie okay?” He asked me. I slowly nodded and looked at the black carpet. He went to his wall mounted flat screen TV and slid the DVD into the into the DVD player and sat on the couch facing the TV. He patted the seat next to him and I slowly walked to sit next to him. As the movie droned on, I was beginning to feel a little sleepy. Being sleep deprived, I am never in a good mood. I tilted my head back resting it on the back of the couch. In a matter of a few minutes I was asleep.
