Chapter 14-Back to normal?

the next day

Links POV

I groaned as the light peeked through the blinds. I felt a weight on top of me. I glanced down and saw Rhetts' leg and arm cuddled over my body, his body pressed tightly against mine. Quietly I flipped myself round so that my face was pressed against his chest. He moved slightly, groaning quietly. His eyes fluttered opened and he smiled at me.

"Morning..." he pressed his nose on top of my head, breathing heavily. We cuddled, holding each other tightly.

"Last night was probably the best night I have ever had." he smiled at me.

"I was worried about hurting you; you're so soft and gentle." I chuckled quietly. Our moment was spoiled by a loud buzzing sound on my dresser. I lifted myself up on one elbow and reached over to my phone. I squinted at the message.

"What is it?" Rhett whispered.

"Its a text from Chase. He is asking if I'm coming back in today." Rhett sighed.

"I think you should come back." I nodded.

"I am a lot better than what I was. I mean all my stitches are out, all the bruises are nearly gone and I'm not in any agony any more. Although I am sore from last night..." Rhett chuckled quietly.

"I agree! So am I! Why don't I go and start on breakfast while you go and get a shower?" I nodded and flipped the covers off and headed to the bathroom. I switched the water on and clambered in, the hot water cascading down my body. I let the water run over my face. I heard the door open and someone came in behind me.

"I thought you were making breakfast..." he grabbed the shampoo bottle and started to massage my scalp. I moaned in pleasure.

"I thought I would join you instead... you know...save water..." After he finished washing my hair I turned and washed his hair. I looked at his muscular back as the soapy water dripped down. He turned round and faced me.

"I love you, you know that right?" he leant in and gave me a kiss, getting the water all over me and him. When we were finally ready we drove over to the studio. I clambered out of the car and made my way over with Rhett.

"You know everyone is going to be so happy to see you right?" I nodded. We walked down the corridor and heard the mumbling of voices.

"Wait here..." Rhett pushed open the door.

"Hey guys!" he got a reply from everyone. "Listen I have brought a special friend with me today and I know you guys will be happy to see him." He pulled me forward. Immediately everyone shot up from their seats and ran over and hugged me. I smiled and laughed.

"Wow guys I didn't realised you missed me this much!"  we walked over to our desk and sat down for todays episode.

"I missed sitting at this desk." we got everything ready as everyone walked to their places.

"You ready guys?" Chase called behind the camera.

"You have no idea!"

Later

Rhetts POV

"I just got a text." I looked across from my desk. His eyes flickered from his phone to me. "Its from my mom. She wants to see us. Can we do that?" I nodded.

"Well I'm all done for the day so why not?" we grabbed our things and said goodbye to everyone before making our way into town.

"I wondered how she has been. I haven't seen her since you went into hospital." Link shrugged and fiddled with the car radio, turning the music up. We drove until we reached a small bungalow. As soon as we got out of the car she opened the door.

"Hello boys!" we smiled and hugged her.

"Hey mom. How have you been? Are you ok?" she grinned.

"Yes I'm fine. I could ask you the same question, seeing as you nearly got beaten to death. Come in. We need to talk." we exchanged a nervous look. We walked in and sat down on her patterned sofa as she sat opposite us.

"Now before I say this I don't want to angry or upset." Link furrowed his brow.

"Mom what's happened?" she sighed.

"At the start of this week I got a phone call from the police asking me to come in. So I went in and it was about your father." Links hands balled into fists.

"They said that next Saturday there will be a trial held about what happened. But its not good. The Policeman said that....they might not have enough evidence to send him to prison..." I glanced over to Link. His face has gone unusually pale.

"I have hired the best lawyer I can to make sure that he never goes anywhere near me, you or Rhett ever again." Link stood up and walked over to his mom. He wrapped his arms around her.

"Don't worry mom. We wont have him in our lives anymore." and he strolled out of the house.

"I'm sorry Sue I don't know what's gotten into him. I'll talk to him and get back to you." I stood up and hugged her as well before running out of the house to find Link sitting in the car. I climbed into the drivers seat and headed back to the house.

"You ok?" I said after a while. He shook his head.

"Can you pull over please?" I nodded and pulled over to the side of the motorway. He quietly got out of the car and walked ten paces ahead of me. I sat looking at him as he picked up and rock and threw it far into the distance. Then he sat down and put his head in his knees. I got out of the car and walked over to him. I crossed my legs and sat down beside him. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into me.

"I'm sorry man. I wish I could do something. But I'm afraid whatever the judge decides will be final. We just have to hope he's found guilty." Link sniffed heavily and looked at me.

"Its all my fault. If I hadn't been born then none of this would've never had happened." I shushed him.

"If you hadn't been born then I wouldn't have met the most amazing man in my life, my amazing boyfriend." he smiled. We stood up and made our way over to the car.

"Hey I've seen you in worse states. Now what do you wanna do tonight? anything to take your mind off this whole horrid situation." he sat in the car seat before grinning.

"Well when we get home why don't you go upstairs and I'll join you? I've got a few ideas of how I can forget." I couldn't help but smile at him.

"I like the idea of that."
